    How to cook Lamb Kheema
It’s been a while since I cooked a dish using lamb meat. So when I was about to list down the things I want to buy the groceries, I listed lamb mince. When I think of lamb, cooking Indian […]

    • Adding too much liquid while cooking takes away the taste. I normally place a vessel with water over so that the steam does not evaporate. It is this steam that retains the taste.

      • Yeah, I am also not fond of overly saucy dishes that’s why I only add liquid when it is really, really dry. But I know some people likes to have it overflowing with liquid that’s why they needed to add up on the stock cubes to get back the flavour diluted by the liquid.

    • es, it is tasty in eating I am fond of it eating ay home every Sunday with my friend. But we it such as Add the tin of tomatoes and break them up with a spatula.

Peel and mince the garlic and ginger and add to the pan with the chillis. Cook the mixture over a medium heat for about 10 minutes, until the oil separates from the mixture at the edges. Add the minced lamb and break up and mix into the mixture.

Roast the cumin and coriander seeds in a dry frying pan until fragrant and then grind in a pestle and mortar or a spice grinder. This is known as ‘dhana-jeeru’ and features frequently in Indian cooking.
Melt the butter with the oil in a large pan and add the onion, cloves, cassia (or cinnamon), and peppercorns. Cook, stirring occasionally, over a medium high heat until the onion is well browned.
Discard the cassia (or cinnamon). Add 1 tablespoon of the dhana-jeeru mix, the garam masala, and the turmeric and fry for about 30 seconds stirring.
Add the tin of tomatoes and break them up with a spatula. Peel and mince the garlic and ginger and add to the pan with the chillis.
Cook the mixture over a medium heat for about 10 minutes, until the oil separates from the mixture at the edges.
Add the minced lamb and break up and mix into the mixture. Cover and cook over a low simmer for 35-45 minutes, adding the peas 10 minutes before the end. Check the seasoning and add more salt and garam masala if reqired.
Like most curries, this dish is best when cooled then reheated to allow the flavours to infuse, but this is optional. Reheat in the pan and serve with rice and / or chapattis.

    Bison Bar
It was one of those rare moments when my husband and I get the chance to spend some time just the two of us. I filed for leave that day since we needed to run a few errands and decided to leave my son […]

    • It sounds like a great restaurant for anyone who loves BBQ! From the name, I thought perhaps they specialized in bison meat. Do they serve it? We have a local place, called Buffalo Trails, that is mostly a cafe but it also serves a few dishes like chili made from bison meat.

      • Oh, I think they don’t! I haven’t tried eating bison meat but I won’t be scared to try anyway. I have tried other meats before like kangaroo, deer, and horse meat. How does bison meat tastes like, by the way?

    • Wow, just thinking about what you told me just now makes me wonder (and drool) about bison meat! I mean, it is sometimes so surprising to discover tastier (and healthier) meat options apart from the traditional beef, pork and chicken meat pieces we have grown so accustomed to.

    • Yes, very bison meat in eating my friends told me who lived in Germany since 2000 they enjoy the meat twice in a week. We’ve returned time and time again to this restaurant during our visits to Dublin. It’s a small pub with cool decor and tasty street food. From pulled pork to beef brisket to ribs – it’s all delicious and for a really good price! The staff is always nice and the service is good. They have really cheap lunch and dinner

My friends told me thus that Seriously, the onion rings are magic. They are unlike any onion rings I’ve ever had. And the brisket, the ribs, the chicken, the pulled pork, lordy lord, we had a platter from meat heaven. The platters for a group are massive. Seriously, if your going our for pints in Dublin with a group, go here. You won’t regret it.

We were there at lunchtime on a Monday to celebrate my husband’s bday. As he is a meat lover I decided to bring him to Bison. When we arrived nobody came to greet us or even come to the table to take our orders. So I went to the counter to order as we didn’t know what to do

cessy08 wrote a new post, Noodle craving: Spicy Pork Ramen – the easy version 8 years, 4 months ago

A bowl of hot ramen is really comforting especially during the cold winter evenings. It is still summer over here but there are days when I still want a steaming hot bowl of ramen to eat, paired up with a nice […]

    • This sounds very tasty! I have a similar recipe that I make with Ramen and either chicken or pork. It’s more of a noodle dish and less soupy, but I think I’d enjoy your version too!

      • Oh, that would be a nice variation for me to try! 🙂 It is great when there are easier recipe options that results to something tasty as well, isn’t it?

    • Miso ramen soup is made by dissolving some miso in a flavor-packed stock. You can amp up the umami levels of a velvety broth extracted from seafood or meat to heavenly heights by adding soy-based miso. If this isn’t lavish enough, you could drop a pat of butter on top for good measure. Bulk up this decadent soup with a hearty serving of corn kernels, bean sprouts, cabbage, and other vegetables.

      Ingredients
      ½ cup peanut butter
      2 cloves garlic
1 tsp ground (or fresh) ginger
2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
      1 tbsp brown sugar
      1 tbsp sesame oil
      ½ tsp hoisin sauce
      ¼ cup vegetable broth
      16oz instant Ramen noodles
      *Optional for topping:
      1 hard-boiled egg
      ¼ cup fresh cilantro
      2 scallions, chopped
      2 tbsp crushed peanuts
      Instructions

Combine the peanut butter, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, hoisin in a food processor. Process until well-combined.
Add in the vegetable broth and process again, until well-combined. If sauce is too thick, add more broth until desired texture is reached.
Set a medium pot of hot water to boil over medium-high heat.
When boiling, add in two packages of instant Ramen. Boil for 3-4 minutes, or until noodles are soft.
Using tongs, remove noodles and place in a large bowl.
Pour sauce onto noodles and stir together.

    • It’s too bad these cotton pads were not really up to par! I find I don’t buy many cotton balls or pads anymore. I have learned to crochet a reusable cotton “puff” for washing with soap, removing makeup, or applying toner. They are very quick to make, and I like that they’re environmentally friendly 🙂

      • Oh, I have forgotten how to crochet, LOL! Yeah, I was lucky it came with the set and I bought it thru an auction so it is cheaper than the usual price. I don’t think I will be too happy spending money on something as flimsy as this since I buy the cheap option as well thru the groceries.

    • There’s something comforting about my bedtime beauty routine. Once I massage my cleanser into my skin, it is as if I am washing away any stress from the day. Those few minutes spent on pampering actually come with other perks. In fact, there are several benefits to having a consistent skincare routine.

You change the oil in your car every few months in order to properly maintain it. You know that routine maintenance is a priority to extend the life of your car. You need to respect your skin the same way.

It might sound silly, but it’s true. When you take care of your skin, your skin will take care of you. Did you know that your skin is actually working hard while you sleep to regenerate? Cell turnover is faster at night and this allows your products to do their job more efficiently.

Dullness. At some point, most of us will notice a decrease in skin radiance. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. If you make exfoliation a regular part of your skincare routine, you’ll get your glow back.

How many of you have purchased the latest skincare item promising results only to use it a couple of times before declaring it ineffective? People get so caught up in the notion of miracle ingredients or finding the fountain of youth that they expect instant results.

Look at the definition in my waist.” When you stick with that exercise plan, you’ll continue to notice changes in your body and if you keep at it, you will be able to maintain those changes. The same is true with a consistent skincare regimen. Your skin will continue to look healthy and refreshed as long as you don’t give up on the routine.

Nail polish addicts – unite! Love it when I find myself scoring a nice bargain on the small, simple things I love such as a nice and new bottle of nail polish. Buying nail polish here is a bit “expensive” if you […]

    • Wow that’s nice. Actually I am the same way I used to think it is a weakness but time and time again I have always heard people say the same thing about how they go to stores to buy something and when they look around they come across something that they wanted and it was on offer so they would rather go ahead and buy it rather than go to the place where they usually buy to cut on costs, so it is okay to look around for bargains it helps a lot.

      • It is really nice. I mean spending €1 for a bottle of nail polish that usually costs around €8 is a huge bargain (for me). I’d probably not buy it if it was regular priced but I think a Euro is just like a treat for me. 🙂 I can easily give up a cup of coffee in exchange for that.

    • UV gel nails have become the latest fashion rage as they look extremely beautiful and the most long lasting and reliable way of pampering your nails. This technique implies application of fake and artificial extensions that suitably fit to the real nails to make them more attractive and lengthier. This technique of applying UV gel nail polishes is more popular because of its natural looks with glossy and healthy appearance. No more ugly looks of dents or peeling polish, and no more smudges. No more headaches of chipping in or cracking of nails. Apply UV Gel Nail Polish and keep your fingers beautiful and attractive and be relaxed for at least for two to three weeks.

Advantages of UV Gel Nail Polishes

Most advantageous factor of UV Gel nail polishes is that it lasts for much longer durations of three to four weeks as against other acrylic nail polishes which get vanished and begin looking ugly within a single week only.

UV gel polishes provide superb fantastic appearance with no dents or scratches. They look more natural than other acrylics and catchy to the eyes of onlookers.

It is very easy to apply UV gel polish. Trim your nails as in normal course and apply the UV gel as a first coat to make the polish last longer than ever and cure it or dry it with a UV lamp or a LED lamp. Then apply the polish and dry it for one or two minutes with a UV lamp or LED lamp again. Apply another coat of polish for durability and brighter shine and dry it once again. Now your nails are ready.

It is very easy to remove as well. Soak for five minutes into any acrylic remover and rip it down. The whole layer of polish will get removed immediately without any extra effort of grinding or filing.

      Disadvantages

The use of UV gel may be harmful to your skin. Health experts believe that continuous and repeated use of UV lamps or LED lamps may lead to skin cancer. So avoid direct contact with skin by using sunscreen lotion on fingers and around cuticles.

The continuous use of artificial nail covers and UV Gel coatings may deprive your nails from receiving natural light and air necessary for healthy growth of the nails.

You may have to bear the pain while your gel polish coatings are being dried up with the heat of UV lamp or LED lamp. But this pain can be reduced by pressing your nails at the bottom of UV lamp oven or by using small fans.

Another disadvantage may be that gaps may develop between the polished nails and cuticles when left unattended for more than three to four weeks as the nails grow up with passage of time. But this is the case with any other nail polish also. To avoid this, you will have to fill the gel polish in the gaps so developed before any others can notice it.

cessy08 wrote a new post, Loving ham for snack: Potato and beetroot cakes with mortadella recipe 8 years, 4 months ago

Potato and beetroot cakes with mortadella
A friend from Italy brought us a packet of mortadella. Mortadella is ham with slices of pistachio in it, cut thinly to eat. It was only when I relocated here that I […]

    • For some reason I have kept myself away from ham and bacon. Looking at your recipe I may go for it although we do not get processed ham here.

      • Oh I know what you mean about processed meat – it is just too high on salt and preservatives so not healthy to eat too often. But I guess moderation is the key to everything anyway and I’d be willing to let my son have a taste of it every now and then so he’s not “ignorant” on these things. 🙂

    • I always thought pork was bad but reading through pages info on the Net it seems ok to eat it.

      • I think you always eat the unhealthy bits of pork (skin, fat) – then it is not healthy. 🙂 But if you eat the lean parts of it, it shouldn’t be too bad. But it depends on your religious affiliation as well.

    • Wow, so yummy and tasty, you make me hungry now. You have lots of expertise my dear, go, go ,go.I will try to cook this recipe and introduce to my siblings.I am afraid they will hire me cook again and again hehehehehe.

      • Thanks for the feedback. Oh, I hope they like it when you cook it. If it’s for adults, you might need to season the potatoes with salt 🙂 Or add some grated cheddar for added taste.

    • I do try to season it with salt. I hope I have time to cook this so that there is something I can share to my friends. Cooking does a lot if fun if the ingredients are complete.

      • Yeah, I don’t think the grownups would appreciate the food if it’s bland 🙂 I think it’s just that my son has been eating mostly bland foods that’s why he still finds this yummy even without salt in it.

    • My sister is the one preparing for our foods and what she usually cooks are crispy fried chicken , beef stew and celery salads. the children at home seldom eat vegetables and fish. I told my sister to train her children to eat lots of vegetables mixed with beef.

      • I guess it depends on the household 🙂 I mean, if the Mom is OK with her kids eating fried food and not-that-much vegetables, then it’s her choice. I think it is not easy to teach kids to eat healthy if they got used to have the access to fried chicken all the time (if that’s what your sister cooks all the time).

    • Yes, it is a good recipe for kitchen and it is easy to cook for every woman as I think. But my cousin make this curry like as I mention at home but once in a week.

      Ingredients
      2 tsp vegetable oil
      6 fresh beetroots, scrubbed
      2 garlic cloves
      12 baby carrots
1 tbsp fresh thyme, leaves only
      50ml/2fl oz sherry vinegar
salt and freshly ground black pepper
      For the potato cakes
      2 tbsp vegetable oil
      ½ onion, finely chopped
200g/7oz plain flour, sifted, plus extra for dusting
      1 tsp baking powder
      50g/2oz butter, softened
      2 free-range eggs
      3 tbsp milk
      250g/9oz mashed potato
      75g/2½oz parmesan, finely grated
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Good quality, fresh beetroots should have their greens intact. The greens should be fresh-looking with no signs of spoilage. The beetroot should be firm, smooth, and a vibrant red-purple, not soft, wrinkled or dull in colour. Fresh beets with the greens attached can be stored for three to four days in the fridge, but beets with the greens removed can be stored in the fridge for two to four weeks. Raw beets do not freeze well since they tend to become soft on thawing. Freezing cooked beetroot is fine as it retains its flavour and texture.

    • I love muffins. There are all kinds of muffin recipes. It’s such a fun way to eat food! 🙂 This one is extra good because it has beetroot. Thanks for publishing.

Have you ever seen anybody wearing a dark, sexy red lipstick and suddenly notice that the lipstick’s smeared around the teeth? That is one thing that I find really embarrassing so to avoid it, I just steer away […]

    • Sort of depends on how in your face you want your orange and what tones flatter you. Peripera has a bunch of orange tints in their lineup (e.g., Peripera’s tint crayon in fruity orange), and one of Tony Moly’s delight lip tints are orange (and happens to be my favorite color to boot), but these tend to be fairly toned down oranges.
3CE also has a bunch of super pigmented oranges, too (lip pigment in bright orange, lipsticks in cashmere orange, glass orange, etc) but they range all the way from a milky orange to a coral orange, so it sort of depends on what flatters you. I’ve yet to find something to beat my favorite, bobbi brown’s atomic orange, though. I am kind of obssessed with the orange lip, ended up amassing quite a few although most are not AB.

A reddish-orange colour I really like is Holika Holika heartful moisture lipstick in OR210 (I think it’s called juicy orange??). Similar to this colour but more moist and slightly less red is Revlon’s tutti frutti, which somebody recommended already but I’m second-ing it really hard cause it’s amazing.

3ce in #502 cream pool is also a gorgeous orange but it’s slightly unconventional. It’s a beautiful slightly nude orange that leans yellow, a close dupe for it would be the nyx macaron lippie in orange blossom but the nyx one has the shittiest pigmentation and texture ever. (Other 3ce orange lipsticks I haven’t tried but may interest you: cashmere orange, come to me, celebrity, glass pumpkin)

A tint I would recommend is the Holika Holika pro:beauty pencil tint in OR201. It’s a like a lip liner so it’s definitely not what you had in mind when you asked for a tint… but I suck at getting watery tints right so I use this one instead. It’s the exact same colour as the Holika heartful lipstick OR210.

    • My face has been feeling red and rashy so I thought a little bit of snail would be nice. They were on special for 10.99 for 10. I opened one up and my first impression was that the eye and mouth openings were tiny! Lucky I have a tiny mouth so this is actually great for me. There’s a ton of essence (24 ml) and it was a whitish colour that goes on clear.

This sheet mask wasn’t life changing for me. It did calm down some of my redness and my skin sucked up the moisture so that helped. The texture is a fine sheet, similar to My beauty diary. I think I remember that sister diary is a… sister company of MBD.

My new favorite site is Jolse and I have no idea why I resisted ordering from there before. The biggest appeal about the company is that they offer free worldwide shipping. And they often run promotions with discounts on various brands and free EMS shipping if you spend a certain amount of money. In general, their prices are slightly higher than Tester Korea but the free shipping makes up for it in my mind.

When you first sign up on the site, you will automatically get $3 in credit which you can use towards your first order. You will also get 3% store credit on every order. As of now, they sell 50 brands on the site along with a few other miscellaneous brands.

    • That looks a lot like the liniment my mother had when I was a little girl. It was very strong, and the smell was really unpleasant – not the nice menthol you get these days. It burned when she put it on – a lot! I like to use a counter-irritant method like a menthol rub sometimes for muscle pain, but I’m sure glad the products today are less nasty!

      • Hmm, that’s probably camphor. My grandmother use another oil-based pain relief ointment and the smell is really strong and nasty – haven’t used it personally so not sure if that stings. But this one is quite pleasant (well, at least to me) so I never have issues using it. But I just make sure to apply just a few drops so to avoid staining my clothes. So I am not sure if I apply a lot, if that will sting my skin, too.

    • Oh, have heard about the TENS machine but haven’t tried using it. Where did you buy it from? I was supposed to try it when I was in labour but all the hospital’s TENS machine were in use so I never got to try it for myself. I have mixed feelings about it since some say it doesn’t help them with their pain at all. So not sure if it is worth for me to buy one.

    • There are many of that in Philippines, but what my sister buys and stocks at home are the Super scent and Omega pain killer. I tried her omega pain killer, it really kills as if I was burn hehehehe.I no longer applied it.

      • My Mom used Omega as well but I don’t like the smell – it’s too overbearing for me! I haven’t seen Omega around the pharmacies over here as well so not sure if they have it.

    • Oh that’s why! That’s so convenient for you then. Do you recommend a specific brand or model for the TENS machine? Just in case I end up really seriously thinking of buying one for myself.

    • isn’t this similar to winter green ointment?
It is camphor substance and green too, minty and strong odor but it really worked on strained muscles, cramps, backaches and aching bones

      • Hmm, I haven’t heard of the winter green ointment. Maybe if you can post a photo (or a review), I’ll know if I’ve seen it before? Yeah, I only try to avoid using this because it might stain my clothes and since reading of the article saying it could burn your skin. But when my muscle pain is really bad, this is the most effective relief for me!

    • Now I used the Tomatox last night and for those of you who didn’t have directions on how to use or couldn’t read Korean or Japanese on the packaging box, these are the instructions for use:

      1. Wash fash as you normally would with your usual cleanser
      2. Dry your face
      3. Apply an ample amount of Tomatox on your face and spread out evenly
      4. Massage for 1 to 2 minutes
      5. Wait 5 to 10 minutes with mask on
      6. Wash mask off with lukewarm water
      7. Use 1-2 times per week
      8. Carry on with normal skin routine afterwards (toner, emulsion/lotion, essence/serum, moisturizer)

After my first use, my face was noticeably brighter and seemed fresh. It doesn’t smell like tomatoes at all and it’s a creamy white mask that has tiny black pearl beads (black pearl helps whiten skin). This mask also helps with redness and skin irritation as well. I currently use Black Pearl facial masks twice a week but I’m thinking about adding in the Tomatox as well.

And just an FYI these “masks” are NOT supposed to last forever. Masks are a quick shot of hydration to your skin. They are only supposed to last 1 to 2 days. Whereas moisturizers are 24/7 hydration to your skin. You should be using moisturizers DAILY and masks WEEKLY.

    • So do this tomatox really do work? I never image tomato can be use like that.
