In the absence of an emoticon feature here at LB I do them this way for some emotions. You just need to type colons on both side touching the word. For example if you want ‘smile’ then type the word smile and the put colons on either side of the word. I did that and I got this

I wrote a post on my collecting these tiny little shampoo bottles from my   

hotel room whenever I was on holiday.
