Some Thing We Learned Growing Up

When I was just a little child, I was taught not to tear down ‘my own’ in front of ‘others’.    You don’t make fun of your race, your religion, your sex, your colour, in front of those who are not your race, your religion, your sex, your colour.

Just as in politics we may attack each other behind closed doors. when we reach the street we are united.

I learned this when I was a child.

I learned how stupid a girl looks when she insults other girls to the boys. How they laugh at her behind their hands, how they pass remarks.

Most people learn the same thing.   In fact, those who speak Arabic have a saying;  “Me and My Brother Against My Cousin, Me and My Cousin Against the World.”

This means, if you have something bad to say about your cousin, you say it in the family.   You recognise the difference between “us” and “them”.

Remarkably, and much to the mirth of White People, you can get Black people to attack another Black person as easy as a wink.

White Racists have known this since slavery.   They know how to have the ‘House’ vs the ‘Field’ and use the House Slaves to disparage and betray those slaves who work in the fields.

How is it possible, you might say, when you learn how many slaves were in the South compared to how many whites.   The reason the slaves never successfully uprose despite far out numbering the whites was simply because they had no unity.

Just as today you can watch Black men attack Barack Obama and support Trump, you could pop into a time machine and see Black Men attacking Black Men and supporting White Massa during slavery.

This is because many Black people in America never learned that you don’t attack one of your own in front of ‘them’.
