Here it is the pilinut that is the heart of the products that Bicol boasts of. Also, the abaca products, of which bags of their kind has been seen in some J. Lo’s movies.

And the pilinut, they can make so many kind of candies, pilinut brittle, mazapan, nougat , and a lot more. SO delicious, even just the simply roasted pilinuts. And they are mor cheaper than the kasuy.

Cassy Janine wrote a new post, What Are The Benefits We Can Get From Strawberry? 7 years, 7 months ago

What is your most favorite fruit? For me, I have a lot of favorite fruits and one of it is strawberry. I want to consume at least a cup of it daily.  It is not because of it is common here in La Trinidad, Be […]

    • You are so lucky to be living in a place where strawberries are abundant. How much do they sell it there? Here it is expensive because it is not indigenous here in our province.

Indeed, berries all have their anti-oxidant aspect as I have read. Not only is strawberry delicious but so nutritious.

I like putting it in milk and eat it that way. You see, i don’t like milk. But when it is with strawberry or strawberry flavored I do drink milk.

    • So, living in Trinidad means a guarantee of 100 years life without any heart problems and Cancer. I like this fruit. But, this is not grown in India as per my knowledge. We only import these fruits. There are some fruit shops where I have noticed them. The price is not abnormal. They give for a reasonable price. As you suggested I have not seen any green cap over them at the tip. This means they are not fresh but only imported from another country through proper packing.

This is also my favorite fruit but next to Mango. I like Strawberry juice very much. This will be my first choice of drink everywhere. As far as the ice-cream is concerned I give it is my second choice as the first being the Chocolate.

Cassy Janine wrote a new post, Unwanted Plants In Your Backyards That Is Beneficial 7 years, 7 months ago

Weeds are actually irritating when you see them around your ground or in the garden. We always think of them as an unwanted plant because they share soil nutrients with your flowering or fruit-bearing plants. And […]

    • Hmm, that is very good to know! Though, I am not familiar with those kinds of weeds.

Maybe I should take note of the weeds in my parents’ house because they have a very wide lawn at the front and at the back of the house.

Actully, there are a lot of plants we don’t know that exists just in our backyard. Had we known their health benefits, we will surely get them to eat.

    • Some shrubs and weeds possess a great medicinal value which we do not know and understand. It is only the herbologists who identify them and put them into use. Without knowing anything about these weeds it is not good to allow them to grow. There are some weeds which are poisonous also. Our children will be playing near them and may come into contact with these poisonous weeds, which sometimes may prove fatal.
If we find such weeds and shrubs in the backyard of the house we should contact a herbologist immediately and show them the weeds and seek his opinion as to the danger involved in allowing them to grow. Then we should act accordingly. Sometimes, they become centers for snakes, scorpions to live in. In such cases, we should immediately burn them.
No doubt, they may be having some benefits only after processing. We can not process them. We can not eat and chew them unless there is no threat to our life.
I did some study on these plants, shrubs, and weeds when I was visiting Srisailam which is having a dense forest covering hundreds of kilometers. I contacted many people and noted down the points relating to many of them. But, all of them are useful only after they are processed and can not be used raw. What is the use of it?
There is a shrub/small plant known by the name Gymnema Sylvestre which is called in the local language as PODAPATRI. The leaves are useful in lowering the sugar level. Once a herbalist offered me 2 leaves and requested me to taste some sugar. Amazing…I could not feel the sweetness of sugar at all. I chewed it like sand particles. Later he informed me that it is used in most of the Dia products.
As it was quite interesting to know about it, I collected some 6 leaves from him and took to the office. During lunch hour while we were on some casual discussion I offered 2 leaves to my colleague and asked her to chew and tell the taste of sugar. She chewed them and said she is getting giddiness. I was shocked. She was not having sugar. The dosage of 2 leaves was more for her. She got giddiness. Now after some time she seated herself in the chair itself and fell asleep for an hour. Was I not wrong to offer her without knowing anything?

Better it is always to clean them out of the house.

Cassy Janine wrote a new post, Why Are Teenage Pregnancy Common Nowadays? 7 years, 7 months ago

When you go around the city, you can see a lot of teenagers carrying their babies with them. They could be 16, 17, or 18 to 19 years old.

Teenage pregnancy is not anymore a surprise to us. It is more likely to be […]

    • Teen pregnancy has become more popular over the years due to lack of parenting. If parents taught the kids any good value or taught them to respect there self it would not be so Common. (referring to teens that are pregnant at age 13-17) or how about the show teen mom I feel it is influenceing teens to get pregnant.

    • Another thing is that teeenagers, girls at that, drink alcoholic drinks with their friends , mostly boys. So what do you expect when all gets too drunk. The girls are without inhibition already and would have sex with their intoxicated male friends. Some gets raped.

Besides, the proliferation of X-rated movies that are easily accessible at the internet, wakes up their sexual urges, so much so that when their boyfriends would ask for it, they would easily give in , out of curiosity of how it feels.

    • Most Filipinos are not as open when it comes to topic of sex. We felt that they will eventually learn it through their science class. We take for granted that they will learn it in time.

It may also be the emotional side of it. Maybe they feel that their boyfriend is their ‘forever’ and does not have the heart to lose him. Also, it is their way of showing their love for their man.

Sadly, the percentage of teenage pregnancy is soaring high.

    • I think we can all blame TV and these young kids pretty much selling sex.

    • I love all flowers, but hibiscus reminds me of my childhood home and the African Violet was always on my favorite list. Thanks for sharing these pics.

    • There are many varieties of flowers. It is only our interest to grow them indoor or outdoor. We can grow even an outdoor plant indoor provided sufficient lighting, air, and moisture conditions are provided. We can grow them indoor also arranging a beautiful Glass to look through while taking our dinner. This actually I have planned for my house. The plant will be outdoor only but will be grown inside without affecting our normal work and atmosphere. The house planner has given me a great design and idea.

The jasmine flower gives out very sweet smell during night times in the summer season. We should water the plant regularly during summer seasons.
Hibiscus will come in red and Orange colors. I grew an orange colored one but I have not seen the Yellow one. I also do not aware that the leaves and flowers can be used in the preparation of tea. Thanks for this information.

    • The thing that gets me with tea is that when I was growing up there was only Lipton Tea. Now I’m a adult and come to find out almost anything can be made into a tea! That’s so wonderful! Can’t do that with coffee! 🙂

    • Yes. I agree with you. But, I have not heard of making tea using Lavender. Lavander is useful for taking bath in Summer season. It actually calms down the anxiety and stress and gives a pleasant feeling. The paste of Lavender is applied on the body as it absorbs body heat.

    • So nice to know about so many different types of teas. I am not a big fan of tea though but this sounds delicious. I also doubt if we will be able to find all those ingredients to make it at home. Researches are always interesting and that too researches on food is a very job. Taste experiments with healthy receipts make it more enjoyable. I too will try to make something like this. Anyways, thanks for this.

    • Does the raspberry tea actually taste like raspberry, the dried fruit part? I don’t usually like tea but would be willing to try it if it tastes like raspberries!

    • Its interesting that some of the plants that we consider to be weeds are beneficial to our bodies and are food to other communities. Thats just how different we are.
Like when i see the lavander plant to me it was just a flower, it really didn’t mean anything to me. But now i know just how beneficial it can be. I just love this reading and finding out so much stuff that is beneficial. It makes life worth living for sure.

Indeed we can practice speaking English by always speaking English. In high school , i was really practiced on how to speak English because we were required to.

We were even made to be on declamation and on stage.

Well, writing can also help us improve our language. We just have to listen to how it is being spoken so as to get familiarized with it.

Practice makes perfect as the saying goes and that is so true. The more you practice , the more that you will be get used in speaking English.

Cassy Janine wrote a new post, Why Are Many People Want To Learn English Language? 7 years, 7 months ago

Here in our country, the Philippines, many Filipinos are learning the English language because of many reasons. They will use it to an online tutorial, which is common now. They will use it to apply for call […]

    • Since, English is the most internationally used language or should I say it is a universal language, people are eagerly learning how to use it.

AT least, when they know how to speak English fluently, it would impress the interviewers for jobs and would hire you for the job.

Nowadays, even the Filipino children are speaking in English already. That’s because in posh schools, English is already being taught amd spoken.

What I also noticed is that speaking English has now become a determinant of one’s status in life. If everyone at home is English speaking, that means the family is of a high social standing.

Do you agree on this observation of mine?

      • I do agree with you @Dina. Sometimes, speaking the English language will definitely determine an individual social status.

I also agree that speaking English fluently is an edge in applying for a job most especially in BPO companies as I have mentioned, teaching jobs (online or classroom setting), HR management, and so on.

However, with the implementation of K-12, local dialects most especially in public schools are used as a medium of teaching. Unlike before, we are forced to speak English inside the classroom.

    • English is the second language of our country. Even those who did not complete their education can communicate even in broken English.

Our education system did this because they saw the advantage of having English as our second language.

The only disadvantage I can see in this is that our foreign visitors does not bother to learn our own language because we can converse with them fluently.

    • It really is to an individual’s advantage if they can fluently express themselves in English.

Dina, you are right that it is a status symbol if you are an English speaking person. As they say, you are ‘sosyal’.

Me, I have difficulty in talking or speaking in straight English. Sometimes my tenses are wrong.

    • English is a universal language and is spoken by many people all over the world. It helps travellers to manage their needs when they talk in English. Further call centres use English.

    • I remember when I started to learn English in primary school, I hated the language. But now it is my preferred language over my French-Canadian provenance. But I also wish I could learn other languages like Spanish, German etc.

    • English is recognized globally as common language nowadays. It is an interesting article to me as non Filipino to know that studying English in the Philippines is so serious and advanced process.

    • Truly, english is a language of business wether you will used it for applying a job, on business meeting, or even on speech english is pre requisite to pass the test. If you know how to speak english fluently you can used this as your own advantage with others. Lets face it, most companies in entry level position are looking for a competitive employee whom they see that will have a potencial to be somebody else in the near future. Probably, what they are seeking is someone who is tough, full of aspiration and ambition, responsible, with a strong communication skills. Basically, business is all about communication. Talking spontaneously without delay and the ability to express themselves in an instant who has the power to convince other either it was an oral business proposal or written. Speaking english is a must if you want to be successful in your chosen field and look for greener pasture. 😛

    • Learning english is as easy as 1 to 3 just read books, magazine, watching english movies as one of the way to widen your vocabulary but what important is your diction how will you going to pronounce the words in english in a proper way that everyone will understand the words you are transmitting with them. You could also try to talk with others not only with your self in order for you to master the art of communication in that matter you will know if you can effectively communicate with others and express yourself easily if you failed and find its hard for you to speak in that languange don’t lose hope but always try and try until you succeed. Remember you could never gain the glory of success if you don’t even undergo the pain of failure. In your spare time, why not do a formal theme just to practice your vocabulary like writing a topic that best suited your personality or anything that you’re interested in. Let your inner self unleash the power within you to be able to express your thoughts, your desire, and your wants, that will put your heart into something that you could never imagine that you do to express yourself freely with your own touch of hand.

    • WOW! You said it all! Basically, we should be really aware, attentive, and keen observer to whom were going to met because its the first time you would laid eyes with that person to know the other side of him, which both interest you and to determine if you have something in common. I think be ourself and be real pretending not to be someone else just to get attention. Its more better in the first met that you know something about each other enjoying each other company with some chit chat to spice things a bit. And who knows? There would another date or so. It is really important thay you are comfortable with each to says something whats on your mind and you can talk anything everything under the sun that would be a superb dating experience ever to know that he or she is interested about the kind of person you are and how you are at ease with your date as if something connected between the two you.
