Border- Gavaskar Trophy 1st Test Match ( 1st Innings)

In the 1^st Test Match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy played in 2017. Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. Australia started 1^st innings with Matt R and David W and India Started with Ishant Sharma and R Ashwin.

Australia started very well and put up a very good 1^st Wicket partnership of 82 runs and lost 1^st wicket in the form of David W who made contribution of 38 runs in 77 balls with 6 fours. Australia kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the 1^st Innings and with the contributions of Matt R who made 68 runs in 156 balls with 10 fours and 1 six and Surprising all round performance of M Stark who made 61 runs in 63 balls with 6 fours and 3 six at the strike rate of 97 runs in 100 balls faced, were able to post total of 260 runs in 94.5 over’s at the loss of all 10 wickets.

For India Umesh Y was the pick of the bowler who took 4 wickets by only conceding 32 runs in 12 over’s and R Ashwin took 3 wickets by conceding 63 runs in his 34.5 over’s. R Jadeja took 2 wickets by conceding 74 runs in 24 balls and J Yadav took 1 wicket by conceding 58 runs in 13 over’s.

Writers Analysis: Though Australia were only able to make 260 runs but still this total is good looking at the condition of the pitch and with Aussie bowling attack in good form. The turning point of the innings was when Australia was down and out for only 205 runs at the loss of 9 wickets, M Stark batted splendidly and he was the lone warrior who put Australia in a good condition as 260 total looks far better than 205 runs and the way he handled the Indian bowlers and played against the spin bowlers is a lesson for other Aussie batsman to bat that way to score runs and create problems for India.
