10) John Cabot was an Italian born explorer and was also known as Giovanni Caboto. He made a voyage in 1497 on the ship ‘Matthew’ and landed in Canada mistaking it for Asia. His son Sebastian was a famous explorer and cartographer in his own right, he is believed ti gave accompanied his father on the successful 1497 voyage.
