This is yet another unique, beautiful and endangered species of life. Five million hectares of rainforest are destroyed annually and on this current trend all tropical forests will be gone by the middle of the 21st century, apart that is, from those we act to save now. Located in the remote southwestern Amazon, the Sierra del Divisor mountain range divides the Ucayali and Jurua. The Sierra del Divisor faces imminent threats from oil and mining. Habitat for two of these threatened primates, the Red uakari monkey and Goeldi’s monkey. Red uakari monkey are social species and exist at low densities. Cacajao calvus (red uakari), Arboreal : Yes, Adult Weight: 6.98 lbs (3.17 kg), Diet: Herbivore, Female Maturity: 3 years. Red uakari monkey live in the rain forest. Bright, bald, and very red potential mates of the red uakari look for these distinguishing features in healthy partners. Uakari is the common name for the New World monkeys of the genus Cacajao. With its bald, scarlet head and bright orange fur, the red uakari is the world’s strangest-looking monkey. It is a monkey that lives in the forest upstream of the Amazon River. It has bald head, crimson visage, wide eyes, short tail, and shaggy coat. They are active, intelligent and live in large social groups of up to nearly 100 individuals. The endangered Red uakari inhabits the Sierra del Divisor Mountain Range in Peru, an area where conservation teams like those of the government and others are working to protect and save these species of monkey’s which are endangered and facing extinction.
