“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” Which of these learning styles do you prefer: self-study, one-to-one, face-to-face, in a group, online and learning by doing?

I have tried the online learning and I can do some subjects with no problems but some I need more help with. Like when I was taking computer programming. I needed help with that. I have done the traditional classroom. It was okay but too many people like to play around. I guess I’m not a self-motivator to do things on my own or self-study. I procrastinate too much. I would like to learn a few more things.
@evilelf I am comfortable in studying alone. In some point, if I can’t understand; I will just search online. Mr. Google has all the answers. In some way, it is like replacement of the real teachers.
Self study opens all gates of knowledge while on the other hand teachers just explains what he or she knows and we must keep in mind that teachers just provide us pieces of information not knowledge. It is information that do not put pearls before the swine. the Holy Bible. but what its meaning spiritually, mentally and physically it is called real knowledge. Therefore I like self study.
@ jhsayyar I do self-study most of the time. During my college days, some of my batch mates wanted to have a group study. I tried but it wasn’t for me. From that time then on, I stopped joining them until we graduated.
Let’s not say that teachers only give us information and not knowledge as one of us has just said. Without the teachers would we be able to do certain things on our own? Yes there are those things that we can do but there are those things that we will need the guidance from a teacher. Anyway we all have different ways of looking at this, so I will not expound too much on it. |
