I think it would depend on the area I am living in. Currently, I probably would not initiate a conversation with my neighbors let alone tell them to turn down the music. I would just call the police but then again they probably would not come out for that anyway. So I guess I would do nothing.

@scheng1 I will call a police authority if the situation get worse. @suny I can try to have some earplugs and call the attention of these people on the next day. @morgoodie I don’t mind the business of others. However, it affects my online teaching. For some reason, it affects my work performance if this loud person continues to do his animal behavior.
I would say it depends on when the noise is loud. If it’s a night I would call the police, if during the day hours I would confront them. I know I have hearing loss and sometimes play my music loud, I’d rather have some one tell me than to call the police. It’s NOT my fault I can’t hear very well (even with hearing aides.)
Go over to their house and talk to them. If you ask them kindly and they refuse to do anything about it, then it is your next step to call the law and explain to them that indeed you did try to have a talk with your neighbor but they continue to play loud music. The thing is, this is a basic violation of city code and police will enforce it. The first time is usually a warning, but if the neighbor continues to play it loud and late at night, try to get a petition from your other neighbors and next time you call police, give them the list of all your neighbors who are of the same opinion that this guy needs to shut up or pay a fine. The police will eventually issue a citation and it will be very effective. As for the neighbor not being respectful of you or others, letting them know you don’t tolerate their ways won’t gain any points with them but they may respect your opinion of them when they have to pay a fine for their actions. |
