Recently, there was a security breach in Debit Cards in India, after which many banks advised customers to change their pins. Some customers reported illegal transactions by online fraudsters on their debit cards.
RBI and Finance Ministry have asked for reports.
Yet, one can play safe by changing password at regular interval, checking statements regularly, getting real time alert notification for usages, as well as being careful at ATMs that nobody is seeing one’s password.

Am telling you com men have become geniuses in everything nowadays, that ar3 robbing people mercilessly all over the world. How people’s accounts are being hacked really beats me. But I sometimes believe that it is usually an inside job with the employees. This people have access to their clients accounts so that can tell who h account has money and is dormant as in the owner doesn’t visit it quite often. So such clients are viable and fell victims to this fraudsters out there. It’s very unfortunate that something so sensitive can lack enough security. And it’s not only in India even in my country so many times have clients lost their money through such incidents.

I think this plagues people in every country that have debit cards. We all must be careful when we travel, even if it is for a short distance. Criminals will find any way possible to gain access to your private information. Some will even send you a bogus email from a company you may use stating something is wrong with your account. Some will even set up fraudulent websites to look like legitimate sites. We all should stay alert at all times and question things when they look out of place or even strange.

@sauda and @evilelf thanks for responding. Yes, this menace is impacting people in many countries.

One needs to be careful- check each and every use statement, has SMS alerts, do not share password(s) especially of one’s bank cards, over phone or in person. Even sharing with family members ought to be avoided.

Also, Banks need to have a full time cyber security team for preventing Online cyber frauds or attacks on websites.
