My children, listen to what I have to say about proper speech, do as i teach you and you will never get trapped. Sinners are caught by their own arrogant, insulting words. Don’t fall into the habit of taking oaths, and don’t use God’s holy name too freely. A slave who is constantly beaten will never be free of bruises, someone who is always taking oaths by Holy Name will never be free of sin. Anyone who takes oaths all the time is sinful to the core, and punishment is never far away from his household. If he fails to fulfill his oaths. He is guilty. If he ignores his oaths, he is twice as guilty. If his oath was insincere in the first place, he cannot be pardoned and will have a house full of trouble.

Thats right, but its not only sinners who take oaths, oaths are taken by anyone who wants to enrich themselves in things that are not right. I tend to believe that when someone takes an oath they are swearing upon something that has been created by man and not God why would you do that because you want to gain something that you lnow you cannot get easily and th3 only way is swear.
Wisdom takes cares of those who look for her, she raises them to greatness. Loving her is loving life itself; rising early to look for her is pure joy. Anyone who obtains wisdom will be greatly honoured. Wherever he goes, the Lord will bless him. Wisdom’s servants are the servant of the Holy one, and the Lord loves everyone who loves her. Those who obey her will give sound judgements, those who pays attention to her have true security. Put your trust in wisdom, and you will possess her and pass her on to your descendants. At first, wisdom will lead you along difficult paths. She will make you so afraid that you will think you cannot go on. The discipline she demands will be tormenting, and she will put you to the test with her requirements until she trust you completely. Then she will come to you with no delay, reveals her secrets to you, and make you happy. But if you go astray, she will abadon you and let you go to your own ruin.
Be careful about the kind of person you invite into your home, because clever people can fool you in many ways. A proud person is a decoy to lure you into danger, like a spy, he will look for your weakness. He will make good to appear evil and find a fault with a noblest actions. A single spark can set a pile of coals ablaze, and a sinner is just waiting for a chance to use violence. Watch out for such people and their evil plans, they will ruin you permanently. If you bring a stranger home with you, it will only cause trouble, even between youband your own family.
Keep these golden rules in your mind. Those who say just once ate true, those who say one thing again and again are doubtful and those who swear are liar on earth. Always first kind of people are true and may be best friend of anyone on earth. Those who swear again and again are hypocrite and liars do not make friendship with hem because they may leave you ant time in the lurch. O always act upon these three golden rules and no one can me deceives in life. Life is a set of rules but people do not think about life and takes it as granted because it is given free of cost by God to everyone. Those who take oaths again and again are liars, 100 per cent liars and absolute liars. Those who are liars will be greedy and may hurt you any time. Be careful such types of people in practical life.
yes, I totally agree with you There are people time and again take oath in the name of God but still ignore them. Fulfilling the oath is different from ignoring an oath. Once they take an oath they should at least make an effort towards its fulfillment. But they do not. Then why do they make Oath? Only to please others or only to show that they are something different from others.? or only to cover up their mistakes and sins? Now the question will be is the saying or advice meant for common man only or applies to everybody? On this count it has to be ascertained how sinful are the leaders of our nations. How many oaths they make at the time of Swearing in ceremonies. How many times they break them and even ignore them? |
