Wrote several posts at a site and its partner site and they had a rule. Posts can not begin with an image. Why? An image at the start of a post or an article will actually impact the site’s SEO (search engine optimization). Some of the bloggers here must not know that because they insert the image right at the beginning of the post before they start typing the words. I can always tell when a blogger has inserted an image first because when I receive an eMail about a post that is published, the script below is what appears first. Not the content in the first paragraph of the post. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:”Table Normal”; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:””; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0in; mso-para-margin-right:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:”Calibri”,”sans-serif”; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:”Times New Roman”; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:”Table Normal”; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:””; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0in; mso-para-margin-right:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:”Calibri”,”sans-serif”; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:”Times New Roman”; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} I’m not talking about adding a Featured Image. I’m talking about those who insert images into their post content. Starting a post off WITH an image is not good!

@ Treathyl FOX Very important and helpful tip. This is a common mistake made by many.
@Treathyl FOX I always a remove an image if someone inserts at the top of an article just after the title or if the images are too big for the content.
@suny Then I wonder why few sites having this thing including LB. They have images right under the title. If it is not good then why they are following this. I generally post images after one paragraph in article on my blog.
I will now try to add an image with each post, though at times it becomes difficult.
@naruto100 Featured images are not considered as inserted images but if you try to insert an image at top before writing anything that is different.
I don’t insert image at the top of my blog now.ice.
Since I can use the feature image, no need to add anymore. Furthermore, it will take some time to upload, might as well reduce the load. Thanks for your advice Appreciated

The normal way is to write the article first then after everything is done, image to follow. But in LB we are required to post two images before and after we are through posting, and what appears is the first image not the second image.Having an image in the post makes post awesome, alive, vivid and cool ; unlike if no image, the post looks dull.
We’re not talking about NOT including images. We’re talking about WHERE to place the images in the content. The Featured Image is the first image. That does not impact SEO, if you use the Featured Image tool in the dashboard.
For the second image, i.e. the one you place within your content … when you write your content out, be sure not to place the image BEFORE the first paragraph. In other words, don’t start the post off with the image. Otherwise it will have an effect on how the search engine “bots” pick it up and display it in the search results. It even has an effect on how it appears when I receive a message in my eMail that a blog post has been published.

So do you edit everybody’s posts? Because I have noticed more than one post with this problem.
Exactly. The Featured Image is not what’s causing the problem. It’s the image that is being inserted into the content. If you place it BEFORE the content begins, it causes SEO problems. If you place it somewhere within the content, there are no problems.
Placing the inserted image after the first paragraph is a good blogging and writing practice. The sites that are showing images as you say are likely using the Featured Image tool which shows up and may look like it’s a part of the content but it’s not.
suny – The comment above about “who edits the post?” was directed to you. I forgot to mention your name.
@Treathyl FOX Actually some of my friends here know that I am an online editor and moderator for couple of Indian writing sites. I addressed @naruto100 in that capacity. I have nothing to do with editing on this site!
suny – Oh! OK! I misunderstood. Thought you meant you were an editor for LiteracyBase. Whoever the editor is, I hope they’re reading this thread. 🙂 |
