There is a huge difference between needs and wants. A wristwatch that costs a bomb surely comes under the category of one’s wants.
Let’s look at the scenario of someone wanting to know what time it is. Right in one’s pocket there will be a cell phone which diligently works and tells you what time it is. And then when one is working on the computer we know there is a timer that clicks every second. And we have wall clocks, time pieces the works to depend on wanting to know what time its. Then we have the taxi and riskshaw drivers who will tell us what time it is if we forget our mobile.
In other words no one looks at wristwatches these days. They do not have to and yet we see celebrities ogling at wristwatches that are getting upgraded by the minute. Some have a hobby collecting wristwatches, safely kept in a safe.
Why do we not move with the time, pun meant.
Watchmakers will woo the public with features never heard of before. A search on the Net will give information on the expensive wristwatches. My search reached to here:

May be I am naive to know what one does with these expensive watches. Nor will I want to know. All what I want to know is time and I hav enough devices around me that help me with that. These watches are bulky and have countless features that I am sure the wearer would have to attend some classes or a course to get to know what each feature does.
Or is it just their ego to own this contraption. One will have to interview these queer characters hoping they will give honest answers. Surely they will not want to admit they are the world’s top most egocentric individuals.

There are many watches that are most expensive and a normal person cannot buy it because it becomes too much costly. At some point in time, everyone has held, worn, or owned a Rolex Submariner. This one is special because it was held, worn, and owned by the one and only Steve McQueen.
