Have Women Gone Backwards

If one studies history  repetitions occur at frightening regularity.   It is as if each generation is born  ignorant of the previous.

The Struggle for Women’s rights is not new, and has, like a tide, recurred with regularity.

The fight to simply gain the vote was countered with unbelievable violence and punishment.

Before World War I and after, history is terrifying, for one never expected the kind of response dispensed against citizens who simply wished to vote.

Women did gain the vote, however,  and after that victory, many fell into a shoulder shrugging malaise where they returned themselves to the level of inferior.

During the 1930s, up until World War II, women went back under the foot of men.  Whatever they achieved was forgotten.

During World War II labour was needed.  All the barriers were dropped  so women could work in men’s jobs.

Women who, before World War II, would never have been allowed to work in these factories were recruited and worked, until, of course, the men came home.

Then after all the effort, all the proof of their equality, like mice, they retreated into their homes and accepted their role of ‘helpmeet’ and ‘housewife’ as if they never built planes or flew them, or drove trucks.

In the 1960s Women’s Rights, Feminism was placed on the front burner.  Women marched and protested, and gained rights.  Rights they were supposed to have.

Then, something happened in the 1980s and women slipped back into secondary roles.

Men were able, again, to control women’s minds. Men were able to operate them as robots.

Throughout history, men have told women what they were to believe, what they  could and could not do, what their roles were.

During periods of feminism or women’s rights, the mere attempt to dominate led to war.  But now, with the malaise, women are as independent today as they were 100 years ago.

For women to fight against Hilary Clinton would be like African Americans fighting against Barack Obama.

The blow back on any member of the Black community who supported McCain over Obama would be enormous.

There is no blow back on women who support Trump.

Those women who fought for rights in the 1960s; who marched and protested and were locked up, must stand in shock wondering if they had only fantasied the ’60s.

    • I don't think women are not backwards in terms of having opportunities in every aspect in Men's world. Due to the imposition of gender equality, women were able to empower themselves to be competitive against the capabilities of men. In some cases, women are becoming more effective than men in terms of doing their respective their jobs.

On the other hand, some countries are not open to "gender equality." The traditional local people considered women as slaves. Some men prefer to get married to women who are uneducated. They simply want that a woman should be submissive to all their needs. It is sad to say this, but some women pushed backwards intentionally.

    • You say right that women are going backward in every state due to no strong organization of women all over the worlds. Women are being crushed mercilessly by men and politicians all countries. I think wold that any Lenin were born on earth who could unite women at one platform just to save women from the clutches of cruel and callous men.

I have read recently these news against women...
      Violence against Women.
As with all violence, violence against women is unacceptable, but feminists like Andrea Dworkin who talk about an “epidemic of murders of women” grossly distort the facts. The most prevalent victims of violent crime are young black men, not women. The homicide rate for young white women is 3.4 per 100,000, and for black women and white men of the same age it is 14.3 and 14.5 respectively, more than four-times higher, but for young black men it is 117.1, 34 times that for white women!

I am listening a new voice for women's liberty...
A New Feminism. The world is hearing a new voice—that of individualist feminism, which embraces the values of personal choice and responsibility. LIBERTY FOR WOMEN is that voice, and authors in the book:
      • Reject victimhood
      • Defend reproductive rights
      • Embrace men as full and valued partners
      • Defend domesticity as well as monetary work as respectable feminist goals
      • Oppose censorship and laws restricting the sexual relations of consenting adults
      • Support each woman’s right to self-defense and gun ownership
      • Decry gender-based laws (affirmative action, comparable worth, gender-based licensing and employment laws, etc.)
      • Celebrate freely competitive markets and technology
