Will we be able to repay our debt to Mother Earth?

Love for mother is born naturally in a child, probably its origins lie in the mother’s womb. For the birth, the gift that we have received from our mother, we will remain indebted for all life, no matter how would not try to thank for it. And now let’s try to move this analogy, and to talk about the Earth and Nature.  They provide for a man all what is needed to support a life. Therefore, we are immensely indebted to this mother; and, it seems, still unsuccessfully trying to express our gratitude in any appropriate manner.

In fact, if will be protected Mother Earth, this will also protect us. Earth every moment provides us shelter and tools for us to continue to flourish and exist.

Running through the pages of the history, traditions, we see that Mother Earth and Mother Nature symbolizing images constantly emerge in different cultures.  Natural secrets have always been one of the most exciting mysteries of human imagination. Mother Earth was worshiped for its association with fertility and generosity. In Greek mythology, Mother Earth has the power to take away the whole humanity harvest, and behold, in the Slavic world, it has always been one of the major deities.  The Earth has been touched in order to strengthen given oaths. It also hear out all the sins of the dying person. Vedic sages worshiped the Earth as a sacred and indestructible.

    • An important topic which is well explained. Earth is a mother and from its womb all living being has come into existence. But since the coming of the modern day man mother earth is having a nightmare of the worst kind. The present day humans are selfish and self centered. They do not want to care for the earth or the other species which coexist with humans. Humans treat all living forms be it flora or fauna or all resources of mother earth as their property. They have this feeling that everything else exist for me and I am supposed to enjoy the same and lord over all including mother earth.

This ungrateful behavior from humans has resulted in the destruction of forests, natural vegetation, soil fertility, pollution or water bodies, deficient rainfall, unplanned growth due to increase in human population. Which seeks and lays claim to more and more resources and the cost of other living beings which inhabit the earth. The greed of humans knows no bounds. They kill animals, use and abuse humans in the form of slavery, kill and decimate wildlife for skin, bones, ivory, leather and other such products. Use of pesticides to get more crops as they want to make more money is one more big problem as it contaminates the ground water. Drilling bore wells is an unscientific which leads to over exploitation of water resources causing severe water shortage affecting the climate and rainfall and finally leading to waters wars and other wars. If humans do not learn their lessons and behave responsibly it will be very difficult for mother earth to sustain life.

    • Very well said.

Actually, yes we should be truly responsible in taking care of mother earth. Mother earth has her way of avenging whenever we didn't treat her well.

One of the ways we mistreat her is illegal logging which is rampant here in the Philippines. Another is mining, wherein those mountains where they do the mining are being rampantly dug to look for gold , stones and other minerals that sells high.

Having done this, mother nature would have her revenge. Flush floods would happen when it rains even for just a few hours. Landslides will also happen killing people that are near them.

If people will not change in doing these things, the earth will not be a safe place to live anymore.

    • You are right. We have a duty to preserve and protect mother earth; nature specifically because what we do to nature will be returned to us, be it in a positive or negative way. If we do the positive things like nurturing and protecting, we will all benefit from it; but if we destroy it, it will answer with much devastation to life and property through floods, drought, famine.

It is just a give and take process.
