According to sources we have already used more than 70% earth water over the years and it’s not hard to imagine that rest of the water will not last for a long time if we do not go all out to recharge it.
I feel so sorry for the people living in the areas with acute water shortage. I even feel guilty when I hear that people are walking for miles to fetch water for drinking purpose. I felt too bad when I watched the water is being sent by water tankers to areas where water is not available for a large number of citizens.
Actually it’s a common problem being faced in number of countries and as I have read several times that the next world war will be fought over the issue of water seems to be very likely in a not so distant future. If we go deeper into the Indian water crisis almost 70% of water to Indian cities is supplied through water derived from ground which is causing a rapid fall in water level.
So what is the solution for providing water to everyone on the planet? In my views there is no other alternative but to conserve the available water before it becomes too late. We shall have to fight at multiple points to achieve the target. We shall have to go for various water conservation programs.
We have rules regarding rain water harvesting in place but not following them seriously which is one of the main reasons that more than 85% of rainwater goes down the drains. If we could utilize that water properly more than 50% of our present scarcity for water could be solved.
We should immediately revive our water ponds which are capable of recharging the water level of the earth. We are one of the largest populated countries in the world and our population is increasing at such a rapid rate that if we do not wakeup at this very moment the situation will soon go out of our hands.

Did you know the astronauts in space drink their own piss? They can't carry gallons of water into space with them. They carry a water purifier into outer space. That's the answer. I did not say it was an easy answer or a tasteful answer. But that's the answer. Also, catching rainwater in barrels and re-using it.
