Who is the boss- I hope it is not your Mood

Are you one of them who depend on your mood before starting something? I know some of us wait for a long time before they really feel like doing a particular job because they were not mentally prepared. And some them even give up in the process because they could not prepare themselves, they were not in mood. But that’s not the right way or in other words they are practically committing Hara-kiri. Never let the mood dictate on you but you are the master of your own decisions.

One of the greatest journalists late Sardar Khushwant Singh, the writer of books like ‘The Train to Pakistan’, ‘The End of India’, and ‘Not a Nice Man to Know’ once said that when you find in a mood to not to work, force it to work. He told so many different ways for that but what I liked most was ‘walking’. He said whenever you feel like you’re in no mood of working on a particular job walk for a while and get back to your work. That not only diverts your mood from your problems but helps concentrate on your work.

There are many other methods we can apply for coming back to work but the best way is to keep our mind in control. I would like to mention Professor Toni Morrison, an American novelist and editor who felt that for her writing poems and cleaning her house was never a problem and she could do them even if not in mood for either of them. She said it’s up to you to decide mood comes later. Just sit on a chair and close your eyes, the words will flow freely.

The conclusion of the post is that you have to work on your thoughts before starting your work as the best activity comes from the action. So don’t let your mood take over your mind!
