What Will Happen To Environment Now After Lopez Lost The Battle?

All she wanted was to take good care the environment.

But the Commission of Appointments known as CA denied the services of the dedicated and truthful services of a crusader who was known for her strong stance to protect the natural resources and beauty of the Philippines.

She is Gina Lopez—the well-known crusader of the environment of the country.

She was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as caretaker of an agency known as Department of Environment and Natural Resources or DENR. And she perform her job very well which her bosses (the Filipino people) and her employer, President Duterte, were happy about it.

She issued closure to 23 mining companies  and  suspension of five others during her stint as secretary of DENR which caught the vote of Senator JV Ejercito who said it’s not every day you can find with courage and dedication that is going to giant and influential mining firms and the tycoons of mining industry.

But he and other members of CA who voted in confirming her appointment were not enough against those members who rejected to the said position. It was told only 8 of the members adopt the confirmation of the 25 voting members.

After the rejection of appoint of Lopez, support for her flowed from many pro-environmental  groups, communities and individuals who were moved by Lopez accomplishment during her short stint in the said department. They condemned the members who rejected Lopez. Saying it’s a loss for the government for not taking the services of a great employee for the government.

Business interest, Lopez said  during the interview, why her appointment was rejected. True to that statement, she said only the President can handle the strong pressure of the cabinet secretary of DENR. That cannot be denied how the mining companies handled the appointment of Lopez. They won the decision and the crusade of Lopez and every Filipino was at stake.

And yeah, what will happen to our environmental protection when the protector was not protected?

This is the second time a picked of President Duterte was denied.###

    • Nature lovers like us were so sad of what happened to Environmental Secretary Gina Lopez; she did not pass the approval of the Commission on Appointments, saying she acted so quickly in closing the mines, and other things that they say should pass approval of both Houses of Congress and Senate; that she should ask to pass laws to support her decisions! It's legalese! We do not know, why the Commission on Appointments apparently did not see her points!
