What will happen if computers and the internet crash? There are many scenarios which are possible in this situation let us discuss some of the potential scenarios in this situation. All these are quite worrying and one does not know whether the authorities concerned or the governments are having a proper backup plan should such a situation arise. Let us analyze some scenarios here.
If you are working on a computer and there is a crash which happens to the computers and internet, then the data on which you have worked and stored the same in the hard disk may also get corrupted. If you happen to use the internet then there are chances of new virus of malware entering you computer and you can do nothing but simply stare at the screen as no keys of the keypad will work as they will get jammed. Chances are that you may end up losing your data and also the system if many systems which have hosts and servers which we use too are having major problems.
If you are working on the mobile internet your phone may get corrupted and you will not be able to use your phone and the software will jam and will not switch off. You will find it difficult to take phone calls which is why mobiles are there in the first place. A major problem will lead to you not being to call or receive any calls from others. This will halt your work and those of others too if it is a problem affecting different networks. If you hear that there is something like this happening it is always better to switch off the use of the internet and computers.
Work at different stock markets across the world will get affected. And the markets will plunge there will be panic selling of shares and people will want to clear there positions in the market. There will be loses worth billions of dollars if the problem is there even for a few hours as majority of the stock exchanges are interconnected too. Which will compound the problem. Investor confidence will take a hit and will nosedive. People will never want to invest in the market till things settle down and normalcy returns. It may take months to return to the position in which the stock market was in.
Airline reservation systems which work on the internet connectivity and are interconnected all over the world through the central reservation system or the CRS will not work or even if it works reservations done cannot be said to be properly confirmed even if one has a printout showing the confirmation he or she will have to go to the check in point and see what the position of their reservation is. There will be panic and utter confusion at all airline offices worldwide and at the airports. Customers and airlines will be the worst hit due to this.
In the different armies of the world no doubt they have dedicated networks and separate parallel systems and net still since there is some link or connectivity as some chain or point which may not have a proper loop. Systems may malfunction and due to drastic changes weapons systems which are totally automated will get damaged and missiles may start firing and rain down on different parts of the globe. It will be basically many misguided deadly missiles flying around and hitting targets which may be human habitations. If it is nuclear tipped missiles then we have our plate full. All the senior military top brass will simply stand amazed and watch the missiles flying above them and try to run to safety.
Power stations which have analog computers attached to them and measure power will see a volatile blips as there will be variation in the systems through which power gets transmitted. This may result in a high burst of power which will burn the entire power stations and cause major blasts and there will be no power for many months. It will be a very difficult situation to retrieve things back. Many peoples homes may have electronic gadgets busted due to excess voltage and there will be large scale losses to them.
Hospitals where operations are being performed and where patients are being treated may catch fire due the power burst or outage leading to panic as a result of fire and people and doctors may leave patients to burn and run away to safety. There may be patients who are able to walk a bit and they get frightened by the situation and end up jumping down from the building to save their lives. This will be the same case in high rise buildings in many countries.
People will panic and will try to run towards open areas like grounds or forests areas for their safety and to protect their lives from the oncoming missiles and panic which would have gripped the streets. It will be a sea of humans trying to move out while the people above in the space station will simply observe the scene from the space and twiddle their thumbs as they cannot do any things and will start thinking what will happen to them in space and their relatives down there.
Telephone and other communication networks would be totally devastated due to fires and due to optical fiber cables getting damaged. There will be no telephone links for the days to come. There will be widespread rumours and absolute chaos. People will not listen to law enforcement agencies and lot of shops will the vandalized and ransacked and stocks looted from them. Shopkeepers and businesses will suffer from huge losses which will be difficult to make up for.
Transport system will completely collapse and there will not be any proper transport from one place to another as there is total chaos. Hence they will be locked down for months, factories too cannot produce anything due to power issues and logistics problems. Millions of citizens will become jobless. Governments will not know what to do and how to handle the crisis situation which they are facing. It will be difficult to implement policies decided by the leadership as the chain of command structure will not exist any more.
One may read this and say why such negative, pessimistic, dangerous, toxic thoughts one should be having. While one can say so, what has been told above is a clear possibility and a wake up call. Everything is a chain and one part of the chain getting affected affects the other parts too. One can also say by knowing such things what will we achieve except scare mongering. People are generally complacent and that is why disasters like Bhopal gas tragedy, Fukoshima, Chernobyl the world wars, dropping of the hydrogen bombs and other such events happened.
Better to foresee scenarios and work towards solutions than behave like an ostrich. So I would only ask do we have to wait for such a calamity to happen without bothering about the consequences even if one foresees such a possible? This is food for thought.

oh my God, God forbidden, though i hate that to happen, but i guess people will spend more time together nd be happy ad lonelness will be less for sure and family will meet often and new generation and kids will know each other more for sure, that what might happen and its good thing, but we may call the ambulance for some if they didn not have internet, as these are the net addict
