What can be learned from the Icelanders.

Sometimes it seems that only those countries which have liberated from nature and built skyscrapers can live richly. Just look at the American, German skyscrapers. Looks like the riches come from skyscrapers! The Chinese with Singaporeans follow them and build skyscrapers even higher. Judging from the photos online, Shanghai by their skyscrapers are already low behind the West, and perhaps they are already ahead. Arabs are too rich; they build skyscrapers in the middle of the desert.

And Icelanders do not build skyscrapers because simply there would be no one to live in them; in addition, they are likely to be blown away by winds. Yes, Iceland is managed by nature. Yes, this country is managed and nourished by nature. 99 percent electricity is extracted from the hot springs and the warm water pool is open in every city, as well as powered by hot spring water. As kidding themselves people of Island, there are only two cheap things – electricity and hot water. The ability to adapt to nature rather than defeat it was this country’s path to success.

While living in difficult conditions Icelanders have learned to fight for themselves, and as soon as it was technically possible – they took advantage of the chance and hired geothermal energy for the human good, they took advantage of the global financial system and established globally influential banks, they have created the perfect tourist industry.

Icelanders realize that they are Norwegians left on the island. Icelandic language itself is actually old Norwegian language, but they are still proud being Icelanders. They are proud of their oddities, offering tourists to buy a T-shirt with the letters of their alphabet, annoying offering to pronounce their long and complicated names or the names of volcanoes. Nevertheless, they all speak English without a problem.

Neither the tourism industry, nor meet people did not even for a moment to doubt in country’s unreality and fantasticality. Like every Icelander would be ambassadors of their country.

We should not complain about the poor live, we need to accumulate experience and develop stamina and look for opportunities.

    • The necessity of life determines how creative one can be. I don't envy those high skyscrapers because should nature decides to revolt many lifes will be lost as no one can excape such falling building.
