Using Opera Browser

When I first entered cyberspace there was ‘Netscape Navigator’.  It worked with Windows.    Then Windows decided to have its own browser, Internet Explorer, (called Exploder).

I used Linux in those days, so used Konqueror to assess the ‘Net.   As Exploder did what an Exploder does, I shrugged.

When I began to use Windows I would use Exploder to download Firefox.  And I used Firefox.

The problem with that browser is that every few weeks it would be tweaked so that it worked worse after the ‘upgrade’ then before.

I downloaded Chrome and didn’t really like it but it was better than Firefox; sometimes.  Sometimes Firefox was superior, so I would call myself more a Firefox than a Chrome user.

But those two browsers are glitched, easily hacked, and love to crash.

So I went looking for something else and found Opera.

What I liked about Opera; even before I used it, was that it has less than 2% of the market. This meant that few people, if any, would waste time trying to hack into a program that so few people used.

Put it like this; 90% use Chrome, either alone or with Firefox.  If I create a way to hi-jack that browser, I have a pretty good chance of getting into your system, since you probably use it.

You never heard of Opera, so obviously, if I have a hack, how would I deploy it?

The second thing I liked about Opera was that it was ‘no frills’.   I didn’t have a pile of options to say ‘no’ to.  It just worked.

It has a nice easy ad blocker which works well.

I never had a problem with it.  In all the time I have used it, (a few years) it only crashed once.

Some sites claim they only accept Firefox or Chrome but Opera works.

There’s no trick to it, there’s no press this or that happens, there’s no ‘automatic’.

Where on other sites, this is used as the search engine and that is the default for news and this is the homepage unless you change it; so that your first hour using it is disabling bits and pieces, Opera is all you.

    • One of my kids likes the Opera browser. I don't know why. But she's savvy enough to know if something works! I'm too scared to try things that are not already well known. Knowing me I'll crash something! (O.o)

    • I used opera mini for free internet on my phone. You just have to know the APN, proxy server, and the fastest server of the telecomunication company server on your country for you to get access to a free internet without paying any single dime. It really works for me thats why I love Opera Mini more than browser available on any android device today ;)

    • This is my first time to hear opera browser. Most of the time before and now I used either Firefox or Chrome. I noticed Chrome better than Firefox, but worse too for it easily dives to crash. Firefox seems not anymore stronger unlike before. There are so many browsers this time, but I am afraid to use them.
