Tips how to ask for salary increase.

One of the most difficult and awkward situations occurring in working life, is to ask the boss to increase wages. How to handle this situation?

Some people feel great nervous tension, because they believe that will not be able to choose the right words, others worried about the boss’s reaction, thirds consider themselves unworthy or fear that it may be too high costs for the company. It is likely that in the long run such a worker who does not dare to ask for the increased wage will become less and less enterprising worker, because will be not sufficiently motivated. Most people, even those who are worthy of increased wage, do not seek to request it because simply do not like self-praise and from an early age is just modest. There are also those who do not ask because of the fear of a negative reaction of the boss, increased responsibility or are afraid to hear that not cope with the current job.

Do not be afraid to ask. The first rule, in order to increase the salary – ask for it. Choose the right words. Do not just say that you want more money. Search for better words that would fit for this situation. Properly reason. Just do not tell the boss what you are working on a daily basis; the boss requires more arguments than spill out your job’s tasks.

Tell why you need it. The question which first has to answer for yourself as soon as you ask for salary raise is why you need it? It is important to ask bigger salary not as remuneration for the works done at earlier times. The reward for the previous works you already received. You should concentrate on the things you will do in the future, how you base yourself on previous achievement to get even more. It is an investment for your employer, not an expression of thanksgiving.

Do not become discouraged because of the negative response. Keep in mind that the answer may be no, even if you are a valued employee. The best answer to this is to thank the boss for hearing you and express a desire to return to this application after six months. Make a promise to your boss that already now you will start to work on the promises you just made when requested for increase of the salary. If you get a refuse, just begin to work and go towards to meet these targets. After some months or half year you can again to offer your new targets to the boss.

Understand that requesting for increased salary, you ask for more money where the employer did not plan to do so. If you do not receive a positive response and will not reach your target soon, the most important is that you have expressed your request. Therefore, the next time you find yourself in a better position toward raising wages than workers who never asked for it. The boss already will know your desires and what you can give to the company as good worker. Keep in mind that if you not ask for truthful remuneration for your impact to the company, boss will think that you are satisfied with what you get now.
