The Upside of Not Being Politically Correct

Let me begin with this fact; we are not, NOT politically correct in Jamaica.   Oh, the painted media mouths will twist their lips and bite their tongues, and make it seem that a cess pool is sanitation deprived, but the real people use real language.

We say what we think, as long as we are talking to ‘us’.   When we talk to ‘them’ we keep it all cut and pasted, clipped and vague.

You won’t find any supporter of the People’s National Party attacking another member of the People’s National Party unless they are defending a member of the People’s National Party.

You will not hear and supporter of the Jamaica Labour Party attacking another member of the Jamaica Labour Party unless they are defending a member of the Jamaica Labour Party.

That’s our tribes, our loyalties.

I say all this to set the stage for the kind of unsaid prejudice one sees in other places.

It is pretty clear that people in Western nations don’t like Muslims.  They are afraid of them and just as you’d say ‘vacuum cleaner’ or ‘microwave oven’ people say Muslim Terrorist.  Most people consider Muslims one detonation from explosion.

When Muslims walk down the road in Jamaica, everyone has their eyes peeled.  and if they did anything suspicious, they’d be stoned to death,  before they touched the button, unless someone in the crowd had a gun, then they’d be shot.   And the shooter would get away with murder.

Although this may sound rather atavistic, face it, Americans feel the same.  They have reason to.   They’ve experienced 9/11 and other such mass murders.   They don’t want Muslims in America.

Oh,  Trump will ban them and various Human Rights Organisations will step up to argue, but let us admit, grudgingly if necessary, Americans like Trump.   They agree with his ideas.  They want him to block Muslims entering the United States.  They want him to build a wall.  They want him to round up everyone from South America,  and deport them.   They want him to send every Muslim out of America.

They Want this.

This is where America is today.   Forget that plaque on the Statue of Liberty.   There is no Statue of Liberty.  It’s just a myth, like Santa Claus.

Sure, way back in the 1800s early 1900s they needed and wanted immigrants.  They accepted immigrants.  But that’s a long time ago.  Now, no.

Many Americans say nothing. They look blank.  They stayed quiet and ‘politically correct’ but voted for a man who made it clear what he intended.

No one can be surprised by anything Trump has done or will do, especially when he said it, more than once during the campaign.

What did people think?  He was just running off his mouth?

The man is a racist.  The man is Islamaphobic.  The man despises Hispanics.  The man has no respect for women.  The man thinks America is the centre of the Universe and that every country in the world should genuflect.

Being Politically Correct hides the real feelings of the people.   Unable to say how they feel, unable to use the language they think, they bottle it inside.

They consider non-whites inferior, they hate Muslims, but they can’t say it.  So they let Trump say it. And they vote for him.

Sure, a lot of Americans are horrified by what Trump is doing, but then, they should have voted for Hilary Clinton.  They didn’t vote for her, they got Trump, and don’t be surprised if mosques are fire bombed, if Muslims are chased out of communities, and if there isn’t whole scale deportation of all those Trump disapproves of.
