Everything that has a beginning must come to an end. The human life of our Lord Jesus Christ starting from the moment of His conception inside the womb of Mother Mary until his crucifixion on the cross must come to an end.
If there is life there is death. But our Lord Jesus Christ in His Divine Nature is above and beyond death or end for He is beyond time as the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is speaking about His mission here in the world of redeeming humanity from its sin through His ultimate sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. He is saying in a way mission accomplished for He has become a willing servant of the Father even unto death which death He has freely accepted.
At the end of the road of the Human Life of our Lord Jesus Christ everything is coming to an end but in reality everything is just a beginning for the re-opening of heaven and our means of salvation.
Our Lord Jesus Christ has fully and truly accomplished His mission in the world. Everything that the Heavenly Father has commanded, our Lord Jesus Christ has willingly done.
What was in the mind of the Heavenly Father when our Lord Jesus Christ has uttered the word “it is finished?” What was the reaction of the heavenly hosts?
It must have been hard for the Father and the Holy Spirit seeing all the agony of our Lord Jesus Christ while He is nailed on the cross. Yes, our Lord Jesus Christ could have called for host of heavenly angels at this very moment to help Him or could even refuse to undergo His Passion and Death but He did not out of love and obedience to the Father and for His love for humanity.
What Is Finished?
Everything is finished both in Heaven and on Earth after the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ. The old world set up has been transform, the Gate of Heaven was open and the Gate of Hell forever closed.
The Lamb of God has been slain so that the very blood of the Lamb of God could take away the sins of the world.
Through the blood of the Lamb our sins are forgiven. For indeed without the shedding of blood there could be no forgiveness of sin. The life is in the blood and the blood of the Lamb of God is the ultimate expiation for our sins.
This is the highest sacrifice of the Great Rabbi that was finished when He shed the last drop of His blood.
It is finished—it is both a spiritual accomplishment and an achievement but all of this things were done out of pure love for us.
Our Lord Jesus Christ was indeed the True Shepherd for indeed He laid down His very own life in order to save the sheep.
Lord Jesus Christ thank you for your sacrifices on the Cross of Calvary. Amen.
