Hero worship was an age old tradition existing till today in India. Many rulers have come and gone but this tradition is still existing in India. Whenever a leader holding power or exercising power in a constituency dies appointing his successor or his nominee taking it as the word of their departed leader has become a routine in Indian Politics. This is what exactly happened in the State of Tamilnadu. But, with many twists and turns attracting the attention of many Southern States.
The soul of Jayalalitha, late Chief Minister of Tamilnadu popularly known as AMMA has ensured that the contestants for her post should depend on her memories to acquire her legitimacy.
The fate of the two two contestants Smt. V.K. Sasikala the General Secretary of the AIADMK and the caretaker Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Mr. O.Paneerselvam has not taken any concrete shape with the two contestants making an accusation against each other.
Mr. O.Paneer Selvam has recently resigned the post of Chief Minister and openly prostrated before the public handing over the guardship of the State to Smt. Sasikala. But her luck has not supported her from taking the oath as the Supreme court stayed her from taking oath in view of the Disproportionate Assets case against her along with the deceased Chief Minister and asked her to refrain from such activity for a week.
This is the great twist which Mr. OPS (O.Paneer Selvam) desired to cash upon. He bitterly and silently revolted against Sasikala holding the post of Chief Minister, may perhaps be with some others support and the Opposition DMK and openly declared his claim for the post for having passed the majority of the MLAs support. This may perhaps be beneficial to the Opposition party DMK. Had Smt Jayalalitha alive the DMK would not have objected to any of her preference as they could not stand before her experience. The opposition DMK party has found the reason in her inexperience as the AIADMA party leader and also as a politician.
Mr. Paneerselvam on 10th of Feb with the active support of some M.LAs openly declared and announced that he was forced to resign from the post of Chief Minister by threat and pressure by Sasikala and his supporters and he would even suspect her hand in the mysterious death of AMMA.
Smt. Sasikala, on the other hand, has kept all her MLAs in the Bay Resort of Mahabalipuram and tried to contact the Governor for necessary intervention. But, Mr. OPS has contacted the Governor at the Airport itself briefed the matter after taking the appointment.
Smt. Sasikala also visited and contacted the Governor but was told to wait for the decision of the Supreme Court which on the next day postponed the decision in the DA case and it may take some more time for the decision. The two contestants are now criticizing each other publicly and are busy in protecting the support of their supporters as the magic number required for the eligibility is 129 at the time of show of strength.
Interestingly, the Supreme Court earlier a 2 year back surprised the public and reacted quickly in granting anticipatory bail to Smt. Teesta Setalvad, overnight against the order of the lower court for her arrest but did not find the DA case as urgent when the whole state is in need of the Chief Minister.
On the whole this has become a big another Drama of the recent years and people are Tamilnadu are enjoying the action of the two contestants.

That is sad indeed, though it is also what is being done here by politicians when they are to go for a higher position. The former position, will be given to a member of the family or a close relative. Though, of course it has to go through an election.
But what can you expect, of course that candidate will surely win because the supporters of the former politician holding that position will see to it ha he will win too, so the benefit they have as to having work etc. will continue, because oftheir loyalty toeh family.
