The “City Of Seven Lakes”

 
Welcome to San Pablo City, a first class city in the province of Laguna Philippines and one of the country’s oldest cities. We are also known as the “City Of Seven Lakes” or the “Pitong Lawa” because it has seven lakes – Sampalok, Palakpakin, Yambo, Bunot, Pandin, Mohicap, And Calibato. The wonders of the city’s hidden beauty revels the greatest assets that attracts every tourist to keep coming back. It is the largest in the province of laguna. By population, it ranks fifth in the province of Laguna. San pablo city was once part of the Archdiocese of lipa since 1910 but on November 28, 1967 it became an independent diocese and became as the Diocese of San Pablo.

In History, The first settlers who chose this area as their home arrived here over a hundred years ago. Attached by it’s breathtaking and legendary beauty, gentle climate and prolific lakes. Aetas, Dumagtas and Muslims, who came passing through Laguna de Bay, made their mark on the land. They developed trails of which we are using to this day. They named a place upland of “Sampalok” The first spanish troops arrived in the upland village of sampalokin in 1571 lead by Capt. Juan de Salcedo. He announced governance in the name of the king of Spain. In 1586 Sampalok was renamed San Pablo de los Montes in honor of St.Paul the first hermit and was officially accepted house to start the parish foundation. Somewhere in 1647, San Pablo de los Montes belatedly became an independent municipality. The first recommended Gobernadorcillo or captain was Bartolome Maghayin. In 1926, the San Pablenos fought a long way to established independence from the province of Laguna. Fourteen long years had passed before the charter bill sponsored by Assemblyman Tomas Dizon to be approved on May 07, 1940 by virtue of commomwealth  Act.No. 520. the first appointed Mayor was Potenciano Malvar.

Today, San Pablo City, was thousand of visitors with beauty, richess of culture and warmth of its people Development arises as time passes by which help the city add more attractions as well as preserve its natural beauty.
