There is a law not in the Philippines that the motorcycle riders can only drive in the special lane which can be recognized with blue and white rectangular lines. That means motorcycle riders cannot just drive in any lane they wanted too or else they will be apprehended and be fine of penalties.
No more leeway and zigzagging in the multiple lanes of the road.
The reason: because of so many road accidents involving the motorcycles. Many of the drivers are injured, rush to hospital and the worst that could happen—death.
They may be directly involved in the accidents or just the cause but the government sees them vulnerable and danger. They are just tiny vehicle comparing to the cars, buses and trucks travelling in the same road.
Many motorcycle groups oppose the said implementation of the regulation. The groups denied they are the cause of accidents are danger to other commuters. Instead, the riders blame some of the traffic enforcers who are not doing their job in the road by letting the offenders just pass by.
But it’s not only the traffic enforcers are the problem. That includes the undisciplined passenger drivers of jitneys, busses and the taxis. Then, another contributory is during rush hour when everybody seems wanted to reach their destination in the shortest time. And because they wanted to be at home in the shortest time, they are all speeding.
Now, the motorcycle riders are the sacrificial lambs. They maybe contribute some traffic problems but to little that even if you let them drive the lane, they can cause very limited accident.
So, the riders wanted to employ their rights of using the road for transportation. It’s the right of every individual and not only for 4-wheel vehicles.
And because of that, they are planning for some protest, of course, using their motorcycle to show their opposition to the said law. They are also considering legal process just to know their right to drive in the national road.###
