Some interesting ways to reduce stress

Hans Selye was the first endocrinologist to identify “stress” in the 1950s. Now, modern day stress is something which can build up quite easily, and if not handled well, it can be a matter of serious concern. It can put a bad impact on our nervous system, mental health, blood pressure, cardiac health, and hormonal balance. However, the good part is that stress can be effectively managed, only if you have the will for it. Therefore, let’s just jump straight to some of the interesting ways to reduce stress:

Eat dark chocolates along with ice-creams to reduce stress

Interestingly, when the word desserts get reversed, what we find is the word stressed. You would be quite surprised to know how beneficial desserts can be in your effort to fight stress. The fact that dark chocolates help to release anti-stress molecules within the body is already well-known. Similarly, ice-creams alter our mental state, and make us feel better and happy.

Nature sounds

There’s no alternative to nature or ocean sounds! So, if you make an effort to capture / record these types of sounds, you are surely on your way to cope with stress in the best possible manner. Besides lowering the blood pressure level, it also regulates cortisol (a type of hormone directly connected with stress).

Chewing gum

It has been now officially proved that people who have the habit of chewing gum, not only have a surprisingly low level of stress, but also an increasingly good amount of alertness at the same time. A wonder gum indeed!

Green tea

Intake of caffeine can cause a brief spike in our blood pressure. It can also over-activate our hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis at the same time. Therefore, instead of going for energy drinks, coffee, or a regular cup of tea, you can opt for green tea to manage stress this New Year. The amount of caffeine in green tea is very low. It also contains a rich source of antioxidants and theanine (a type of amino acid which has proved very soothing to our nervous system).

Laugh off your worries

Finally, laughter can be an excellent way to reduce stress as it releases endorphins. The endorphins are known for improving the mood levels by controlling hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol (both are stress-causing hormones). For this reason, a good laughter always puts a direct positive impact on our nervous system. So, please do laugh a lot whenever it’s possible!

    • yes. I agree with you. These are all a must for reducing stress. Yoga also is an effective tool by which one can overcome the stress. Earlier, it was considered that the Dark Chocolate was not so effective and it may damage the teeth. But, it has been found recently that it is very useful in reducing the stress. Laughing off worries is also a good tool
for stress reduction. But, if it is taken up in the morning as a casual occurrence it works very effectively For this purpose there are many laughing clubs are coming up in many places in the urban areas. People take up this tool, as a morning exercise. They all gather at a designated place, or in a park and do laugh.
Above all, keeping oneself busy with some or other activity is also helpful in reducing dress.

    • Clicking that link and sharing it would help reduce my stress, it's so hard right now. Even you cannot donate, share it among others.

    • These are some really good ways and also interesting ways to reduce stress. Stress has become a major and common problem these says and we get stressed so easily. With the growing technology and improving life standards, we are slowly losing our health and started to get a lot of diseases. The technological development which is supposed to help us are the ones which cause some major problems in our life. Though we cannot fully blame on the technological innovations, limited use of anything is good for health and for life too.

I usually listen to nature sounds which I had downloaded from the internet or directly listen to it in the Youtube when I sleep or while reading which is absolutely relaxing. It is also scientifically proven that listening to pleasant music will improve brain power thereby reducing stress. I used to put chewing gum when I am nervous but now I find from your article that it is a good destresser. I drink green tea for weight loss but now I have known that to be a good destresser which I will continue. Thanks for the wonderful tips. :)
