Did you know that regular breaks during work are beneficial to your productivity, creativity and ability to concentrate? It is now recognized that the 8-hour day does not guarantee your effectiveness. To get the most of your working hours as efficiently as possible, should be found a new approach to productivity.
The eight-hour day was designed to reduce the working hours for the workers in factories. Two centuries it has been associated with a more humane approach to work, but today it is not particularly relevant. Now working day consists of long working hours with or without break and often 8 hours remain only a formality. Some people continue to work in spite of the lunch break! However, it is not worth doing. If you anticipate your daily work and breaks that meet your energy – you will feel perky, day will pass quickly and you will work productively.
Working day length does not have a very high value – the most important is people’ working day structure. Where people are making short breaks, they are significantly more productive than working long hours.
It was found that the ideal ratio of work and break – 52 minutes of work and 17 minutes of rest. People adhering to this routine, without hassle can concentrate on the work carried out. It is important to remember that the time of job or breaks does not include distracting factors such as social networks or email checking. Once again, if after about an hour of work you feel fatigue – it is needed break during which it is appropriate to move away from the work. This will help to re-focus and continue to work productively hour more. This work and breaks ratio occurs because the brain usually operates by sudden flow of energy, it continues about hour. Then follow sudden remission of power, about 15-20 minutes.
The best way to deal with exhaustion and interference – set up daily goals. Instead you work for an hour or more and try to avoid mistakes and fatigue, understand this as a sign that it’s time to break.
Often we are planning and thinking about what we need to do till the end of day, week and month. However, we work more effectively by focusing on what we need to do now. Plan daily hours and in such way simplify your complex jobs. All you need to do is to divide these works into some sections. So, you can plan your day of 52 minutes or not less effective hourly intervals. Interval strategy works only when we use the flow of energy in order to achieve a high level of focus in a short period of time. During breaks time to write even short messages, or check emails and social networks not help you to implement the plan and daily goal.
More often resting employees are more productive than those who do not rest at all. It is important to move away from the phone, computer, or to do list at your rest time. The most effective during your work breaks is just go for a short walk, read something or socialize. Such activities distract you from work, and you can work with a new strength. No matter how busy is your day, writing messages to your friends or answering telephone calls are not suitable for your break.
