Semi rural towns are ideal for retired senior citizes

We spent our prime life in the city both holding responsible positions with multi nationals.  As long as we were working we did not mind the hussle and bussle of city life although apart from our jobs there was nothing  much to write home about.

The over crowded trains, traffic jams endless queues at bus stops, post offices, banks and places where there were queues we bore it all.

There are no bungalows in cities. We had to make do with a 2 bedroom flat having no facility to invite house guests. Nor could we have a live in maid.

My passion for gardening could only  be satisfied when I started doing business in landscaped garden designing – not a an easy job by all standards.

The flooding in the rainy season, halting traffic, upsetting everyone’s life was  a regular feature.

The over populated and polluted city had to be left behind for youngsters to deal with.

We did exactly that.

We now live in a bungalow with total privacy and a space for ample gardening which would have remained a dream had we not taken this bold decision.

Living in a semi rural town is ideal for seniors. Space in cities should be given up  for youngsters who need to live in cities to earn a living.

The peace and quiet that one gets in semi rural town  is what a senior should long for.

Getting jobs done without having to wait in queues is indeed a blessing.

Most important of all there is neither noise nor air pollution. The public transport system is efficient and available whenever the need arises.

I sometimes wonder why  seniors stick in cities and live a miserable life. Space being a constraint the young and old live under the same roof having different ideals, different lifestyles a cause for friction day in and day out.

    • At least you have a very nice abode this time free from noise and flood. Those senior citizens who prefer to stay in a crowded city is , they might lack some funds to buy a house of their own.Owning a business and house and lot now is so expensive.

      • @cely With proper planning well in advance - may be when they reach their fifties this is possible.

    • Not sure. I have not retired yet and don't really have any plans to, but I think the seniors who usually stick around in the cities are staying nearby for the sake of their children and grandchildren. That's why I would stay. But I wouldn't be miserable. If I've made that choice to spend my golden years that way, I'm not going to wake up each day and complain about being there. After all, I'm grown. It was my decision. :)
