Should There Be Presidential Inauguration – Philippine?

June 30 would be the historical event in the annals of Philippines government. The Philippine constitution so provides that the elected president along with the senators, representatives, and the local executives would start their formal assumption of office on June 30. Therefore, they should have their respective inauguration for that matter as mandated by the Constitution.

However, my point of presentation or discussion is the nature of Presidential inauguration which our country should conduct. For the information of everybody, President-elect Rody Duterte has already planned to have a separate inauguration to his local residence in Davao City. And it should be a separate rites of his vice president-elect Leni Robredo who in reality is not invited to come.

The organizer has already announced that the inauguration would be pushed through and they have already more than 600 invited visitors including the ex-wife of Duterte. This inauguration would be going live in the Facebook streaming so that those Filipinos working abroad could view it, according to the reliable source.

Why Inauguration?

It was recorded that the tradition of ceremonies for the inauguration of the President-elect started in 1992. The President-elect takes the oath of office at exactly 12:00 noon as administered by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines as a custom, but the law doesn’t so provide it.

Several rites followed like the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, “Bayang Magiliw”, the 21-gun salute, among others.

For Duterte, we don’t know how it will be conducted. Anyway, the plan is already finalized and it is just a matter of 4 days before the ceremonies. Duterte, as reported, would have his goodbye to his employees in the city of Davao during the Monday, June 27 flag ceremonies in front of the city hall of Davao.

There would be no lavish food preparation, wines or whatever. It would only be a simple one since the President-elect is a simple man. After the inauguration, the President would administer the mass oath taking of the cabinet members.
