All Politicians want is Power

Politicians are interested in being elected. Once elected, holding power. Politicians seek to hold power as long as they possibly can.

That is because all they want is power. They don’t care about the people, the environment, anything. They want power.

Politicians may pretend to be a great humanitarian as had Aung San Suu Kyi. But what she wanted was power. Murdering and suppressing the Rohingya people means nothing to her. She wants power. And she knew how to get it.

Politicians can pretend to care about people, just as Angela Merkel pretended to care about migrants. But once it became clear that it is either the migrants or the chancellorship, she can make that about face within a blink of an eye.

Most people are easily fooled by politicians. They see someone on a platform running off his or her mouth, and believe that they mean what they are saying. The people hear pronouncements and promises, and believe them.

After so many centuries of lying politicians, people still believe the words uttered by the character on the platform.

Merkel opened the borders of Germany. She didn’t ask the people what they wanted, she was making the grand gesture. She wanted people to genuflect at this great humanitarian.

Now that her party lost the local government election, and she may not get that fourth term, she has banned the burqa.

Angela Merkel has banned the burqa. Why? Votes.

Merkel doesn’t care about migrants. She doesn’t care if they eat each other. She pushed herself to the front trying to win awards. She loved the world’s spotlight on her skin.

Now that elections loom she changes her stance. It was always a stance.

Aung San Suu Kyi won’t even make a statement against the Burmese Army’s genocide against the Rohingya. She has remained silent because, as a politician, she has nothing to get.

She, like Merkel wants POWER. That is what she wants. To keep it, she will see people murdered, displaced, starved. She doesn’t care. And the world is stupid to think that she who suffered house arrest for so long, who was held up as a ‘political prisoner’ and gained sympathy, cares about anyone but herself.

These are just two politicians. That is what they are, just like the characters in other parts of the world where people hungry for power become politicians and will say and do anything they think will get them power.

And turn completely around, if that is where the power is.

    • The description of political power is commonly seen in my country. I am sure that most people across the globe are so amazed at the execution of powers to the local people. Some local people cannot understand how elected leaders turned into abusive. They don't really think the welfare of the many. Instead, enriching oneself to use power for personal agendas. It cannot be denied and it will continue to shock the people from different nations.

      • The reality is that only the worst people go into politics. They are interested in power. They pursue power, they will do and say anything to get it. They will stand on a platform and promise then get into power and starts filling their pockets and bellies.

    • I totally agree with your arguments and think you should add that they also want a nice pay (money). I'm from Belgium (EU) and the only thing i see our politicians do is working against each other or the community to get power or money. The socialist who should stand for the people are always involved in scandals.

      • politicians say/promise what they think you want to hear. What they intend is to get into office, get as much money as they can, as you rightly said, and then coast for as long as they can hold office.
