Pluto, The 9th Planet In The Solar System Is Not Anymore Called A Planet

For many years, we learned from the book and from the school that Pluto is a planet. How come this time, it is no longer considered a planet? Pluto was discovered as among the planets in 1930, and the discovery was made by an American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh but in 2006, it was confirmed by the scientists and astronomers that Pluto does not qualify for the criteria to be called a planet. My goodness, why is it that criteria just arrived in 2006, why not before? Were they not yet born? Why are there criteria? Is there like a competition? LOL. The time I entered in the primary level I only learned from our science teacher about the 9 planets and I was able to memorize them and Pluto is famous because of its unique name and size as being called the smallest planet in the solar system. This planet is so closer to planet Neptune.

In 2006, it was confirmed by the astronomers that Pluto did not qualify for the criteria to be called a planet. Pluto remains the same in its location, what matters is the definition of this smallest planet. The group of astronomers had their consensus to take away the planetary crown of Pluto. What are therefore the criteria that qualify a member in the solar system a planet? One of the criterion to supposedly qualify Pluto as a planet is its shape, a planet must be round and they discovered that Pluto is not round in shape. The next criterion is a planet must revolve around the sun which planet Pluto does not do. The rest of the planets revolve and shape round. Since Pluto does not revolve, so it has no clear neighboring planet except Neptune. If it does not revolve, there is a tendency that it creates crashes for Pluto does not travel. Sinking might happen and may resort to small moons creation, the impact of the crashing.

The rest of the planets have all the definitions and qualifications to be called a Planer, so the group of astronomers disfranchised Pluto be named the ninth planet in the solar system. Pluto remains a planet in the celestial body and sooner it may be considered back as among the recognized planets in the solar system. This time Pluto is called a dwarf planet ; it is its new title from being part in the solar system as the 9th planet, now it got its new name as a dwarf planet. Discovered this time many Pluto look-alike dwarf, yer a good company planet.

By the way, Pluto is as big as the size of the moon. Let us just wait and see about the updates to be brought to us by the group of astronomers if Pluto will be recognized again as the 9th planet in our solar system, oh, what a world. At least you know now that Pluto is not anymore the 9th planet, but just a dwarf planet in the solar system, so awesome planet dwarf.

    • Quite a useful information and let us hope that may be one of the planets discovered in another galaxy do support life.

    • @PEEUSH TRIKHA, Hi? Yes, let us hope that come sooner another planet that supports life, and how nice if the said planet allows humans to migrate hehehe.

    • it being called a dwarf planet , mkes it till perceived as a planet. They shouldn't call it as a planet anymore since it doesn't have the criteria to be called a

    • . . sorry it got posted even if i wasn't finished yet with what I still should be saying.

Good thing you posted about this because had I not read about it, i wouldn't know the criteria of being a planet, or maybe I forgot about it anymore since it has been decades that we studies it.

    • @Dina, The decision was made in 2006 when group of astronomers had set criteria about the descriptions of planet. They should have known all these before so that Pluto won't be anymore part of our thinking. This was so long ago confirmation and this was debated by scholars before it was finalized to be disfranchised as the 9th planet in our solar system.
