Actually, this is a throwback from months ago, when I was still commuting to work.
Now, I seldom commute because my gay brother-in-law is already assigned at our place, so he now stays full time at my parents-in-law’s house where we live also, thus I always ride on his car in the morning.
One time when I commuted, the jeepney where I rode to work in the morning was already full as to its seating capacity. There were even two men in the step outside of the jeepney clinging to the railings while they ride standing up.
I didn’t notice it stopped, but suddenly a small girl, came in.
But the seats were all occupied and the jeepney started traversing. How come the driver still stopped, to let her in?
Seeing that there’s no seat anymore, she backed up and instead stood at the door of the jeepney and clung to the balustrade. Maybe she’s in a hurry that’s why she didn’t just alighted and wait for another passing jeepney.
No one from the men inside, stood up to give her a seat. There was a burly man by the door and he could have instead offered his seat.
He was suddenly asleep, when before that he was so awake, ogling at the girls in front of him. lol
My seatmate, a girl too, and I am afraid for her that she might fall if ever the jeepney will suddenly halt, so even if we are already squeezed we coaxed her to come and let her sit between us and just squeezed ourselves more to give her space.
Luckiiy, in a little while, somebody alighted and she was able to seat comfortably. I was relieved too because we can now all seat comfortably.
And suddenly too, the burly man at the doorway is already awake. lol
I know, I don’t have to judge this man because I don’t know if he has a medical condition that can’t make him offer his seat to the little girl. But he could have said it so he could be excused and not accused of pretending to sleep.
Chivalry is now rare. Gone are those days when men offer their seat to the elderly or women.
Sad, but this is true nowadays, here.

Generation now a days is getting worst.Ladies or elderly are even standing on public transportation's. This kind of attitudes are often observed to younger generations.They do not offer seat to ladies even they see them standing,specially on trains where lot of people are rushing to work.But of-course take some considerations for those who do not feel well that they need to sit.
Are you from the Philippines Kath? Yes, specially at the LRT which I take also when I was working in Manila almost 16 years ago.
Though, there is already a cabin specially for the women and elderly. Besides, there is a place of the PWDs. That is nice.
But in jeepneys, no one offers the seat indeed anymore. Though, there are some nice teenagers who would offer their seats and they just hold on the back railings and ride at the back.
Fortunately , we still have gentlemen in our city. In fact yesterday, there was a guy who stood up and let the lady sit in lieu of him The worst scenario was, the lady did not even thank the teenager who sacrificed to stand for the sake of the old lady. I told the lady, no ore seat, but she insisted and the guy beside me stood up and offered his seat. I commuted yesterday for my car is in shop for cleaning. That case, I was so thankful for we still have gentlemen in our city, if there are gentlemen ; sad there are also hypocrites hard for them to say than you for the seat offered.
That's also the problem of some ladies offered a seat. They forget or maybe don't really want to say thank you to whoever offered a seat.
The sweetest word that can motivate someone doing good for others are the two magic words "thank You". I wonder, why some people find it so difficult to utter.

Well, there are still gentlemen on jeepneys.Though, on rush hour nobody wants to be a gentleman. ha ha ha
Nowadays, men are starting to be so insensitive than in the old days. In my city, men should move or give space for elders. Jeepney driver is also aware that senior citizen should sit at the entrance part of the jeepney. Their concern is to let the elders move in and out the jeepney easily. There is still a risk with this kind of gesture. What if the elders have poor reflexes? They might fell down and be in an accident situation. Hopefully, it will not happen. Some drivers are so greedy. They keep on letting passengers get inside their jeepneys despite being overloaded.
It is nice if a man offered her a seat, or made room for her to sit but here now everyone cares for themselves, not of others.
Don't get me wrong - still there are nice people but you don't see this behavior often.
many of the new and old generation dont bother to stand i saw old and young men also dont care for woman old and young while the are standing the men are setting, how shame is that, i can not beleive it really what to expect worse than that? non that is the worst thing not to respect women, but i saw women supporting women and im so happy to see them like this, i do also support any woman in any situation as we have to support each other and not to be bullied at for any reason it is, way to go to the girls who support other women too, God bless
