According to the Chinese calendar the year 2016 is considered to be the year of the monkey. I want to dedicate it to Charlie the monkey that was a regular visitor here in our vicinity. He made his presence felt by jumping from one compound to another relishing whatever he could lay his hands on. It was a sight watching him do yoga exercises on top of our water tank. I have several videos recording the various activities of Charlie.
He used to be seen munching something or the other. The almond sapling that I see in our garden is his contribution. It is growing very well.
Charlie is not to be seen. He has vanished – probably joined his parents.
I will never forget the beautiful moments he shared with me – ofcourse from a distance (lol)
Yet on the other hand I have a neighbour not very far who has a huge property. There monkeys come in herds and drop down tender coconuts after damaging them. They get inside her home and even rob the food that is kept on the table. Being alone she is helpless. She hides when they come.
However, there are ways to get rid of monkeys. If the number is small they could be trapped and taken to places where animals are cared for. The problem however is when they come in herds. The noise of crackers frightens them. But this noise sometimes is not good enough. They get used to it and are unaffected.
Then there are the Monkey Repellent Devices that work on electricity. These ultrasonic sound devices only affect monkeys and some pests but do not harm any other animals around. They have no adverse effect on human beings as well . These devices affect the nerves and brain of monkeys in that they go berserk. The moment they get that feel they run away from the area. Monkeys could truly be a nuisance if they are not contained. They can destroy crops leading to heavy losses to the owners. They are also known to harm children and even adults if they feel there is danger to them. Installing such a repellent could solve all these problems. The aim should be to stop monkeys from coming but not to destroy them. These Monkey Repellent Devices seem to do just that.

Do these devices hurt monkeys?
@PEEUSH TRIKHA They are repellants. They do not hurt but as the monkeys reach the area where these devices are installed they do not feel normal and so stay away.
That's a good thing for the places near farmlands. They will not dare to destroy the crops. In my country, some old folks don't like to pet animals. There is bad luck and doesn't bring fortune as they claimed. But I think there are no any connections with such beliefs in being lucky in life.
@Shavkat Unfortunately not many are aware of this and go through heavy losses when herds of monkeys visit their property destroying everything that they see around. I only hope atleast the government will pay attention.
oh luckily we don't have monkeys here around the neighborhood, only black crows and stray dogs and cats.

@peachpurple They not only steal food they could be aggressive too. All in all not a happy situation when herds visit.
I never like monkeys. They do tricks I do not like. They are also smart, but their smartness is only good for monkeys like them.Those born in the year of the monkey are told to be wise in the wrong way.
@cely (lol) Monkeys use their smartness and for that we must compliment them and as for those who are born in the year of the monkey who nose they too could use their smartness ofcourse in the right way.
@bestwriter, yes, you are right, those born under the zodiac sign of monkey must not use their brain the way mo key does.Though we cannot avoid to say that those born under this sign has some attitudes of telling lies and hiding some secrets.
Monkeys make harms in the field eat the whole crops and destroy the the field with their frisk walk going here and there is bad for farmers. The government must take some drastic measure against the monkeys' harming the field all over the world.
I think these measures may be helpful for frightening the monkeys as To repel monkeys from large areas such as fields, parks, farms, airports and other open areas, upgrade to the Animal Scarer Cannon Gun that covers up to 1 to 5 acres!
