The saying “Money is the root of all evil” is a cliché.
I have actually grown up believing that money is the cause of all the bad things that is happening in this world. But is money really the root of all evil or the person using it?
As a human being, we have basic needs to survive. We need shelter, food, clothing, and medicine to sustain our life. To provide these basic needs, we need money. Hence, money is also a basic need for every individual.
We look for a job to earn money. We run businesses to have money. We go to school and finished a degree to have knowledge on how to earn money for the future.
When we need to protect ourselves from natural elements, we need to buy clothes. If we are hungry, we need to buy a food. If we are sick, we need to go to the hospital or buy a medicine to be cured. We need somewhere comfortable to live and be safe. But what do we need in order for us have all of these things? It’s MONEY.
Going back to the ancient times when the monetary system was not yet invented, people used the barter system to get something. In the barter system, people used available products from their own place in exchange for the products of other places. They do these in order to survive their daily life. Come to think of it, this barter system never faded because as a matter of fact we are still practicing it until now, the only difference is we are using the money to buy things from other places that we need. So, how would we say that money is the root of all evil when in fact it’s the root for survival?
People are actually the evil ones, not money. People are responsible for every action they do. People are naturally greedy. They are full of discontentment. They want something more than what they have. People kill each other because of material things or because of money. Politicians commit corruption because they want to be richer and more powerful. Many relationships are ruined because of money, and crimes are happening in every corner of the street because of money. Drugs, prostitution, robbery, and other evil elements are happening because of money. In addition, the very common nowadays, “SCAM/SCAMMING (obtaining other’s property or money by the means of dishonesty)”, is everywhere. The saddest thing is that the love and respect to others are being compromised because of irresponsible use of money. Nevertheless, do we need to blame money for all these evil things happening around us? Or is it time to ask ourselves if we are responsible enough in spending it?
We should always go back to the main objective or reason why money was created and why it is existing. We must realize that with money, we can survive. Again, money is not the root of all evil, our GREEDINESS is.

Money is not considered evil unless if it was used to bad things.
There are only two people in this world: bad and good.
It is a matter of choice on what character you are going to choose.
Either way, there is always the possible effects of being such.
In reality, this two kind of characters are so evident.
It can be damaging to oneself or to others.
It is up to us on how to deal with the money.
There are bad things will happen for giving money to others through charity works.
It will fall to dole out effect.
That's the sad thing part for some people who are totally dependent in charities.
It comes to questioning the sustainability of charity's projects.
WELL SAID, SIR. I AGREE WITH YOU. AND SO ONE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH WHEN DEALING WITH MONEY.
I like the way you have thought this one out according to your title. And yes you make sense in what you are saying, but I somehow feel like you are contradicting yourself.
Point taken that greediness may be the root of all evil according to you, and not money. But why do we say that money is the ROOT of all evil, notice that Root is in capital letters. When we say root we mean where it all started. Realize that without money there would be no greed, it's because of money that people get greedy, not the other way round. Like the saying goes. When people work and get money, they want to go back to school so that they can attain more degrees to get better jobs so that they can earn bigger salaries and they will keep at that for the longest time. That's why you find that when people are in big positions they don't want to let go because they are greedy right? So from that example how do you come up and say that money is not the root of all evil? Isn't because of that money that someone doesn't want to let go off his position? Think about it again. Those are my thoughts.
