My mom had stroke and diabetes while my dad had high blood pressure plus tinnitus

When my mom had stroke, my dad insisted to take care of her on his own rather put her into the stroke rehab centre or nursing home.

Until now, my dad had been taking care of her and loving her more than he first married her.

From what I understand LiteracyBase had already stated that only the 10th of the next month, payment will be made to writer’s paypal account.

So, let’s just say that at the end of 30 June, I have $18 earnings, can I redeem $18 or only $10?

That I still couldn’t figure out.

Hope that you can understand what I am trying to say.

peachpurple wrote a new post, Tips how to reduce Kids Using Computer Gadgets and Smartphone 8 years, 4 months ago

Are your kids spending too much time playing with computer gadgets and smartphone?
    Fear not!

    Because you are not alone!

I am facing the same problem with my kids who wouldn’t let go of them , not even for a […]

    • Our nephew kids at home are very expert in manipulating their netbook. It’s my fault for I bought them netbooks. They seldom read their books. They are ages 4 and 6.They are better than me in playing games on line. I told their mother to convert the minds of the kids to other useful things.Playing games outdoor is a very good recommendation like playing balls.

      • yes, playing outdoor games are far much better tha hooking up to electronic gadgets. You are such a sweet aunt, nobody bought any of these stuff for my kids. Your niece and nephew are so lucky to have you around. Right, age 4 and 6 are quite young but then you can see that even a toddler who had just started to learn how to sit up , is holding a smartphone in hand already, right?

Parents are putting electronic gadgets in charge of a “maid’ job , taking care of the kids to make them keep quiet!

        • I agree with you peach, and yes, I love the kids at home. If only your kids are nearer me, I will surely buy them. You are also right about bonding with children outdoor develop more love to their parents.

    • Great tips, especially the points about earning screen time and balancing time on the computer or device with time spent playing outdoors!

      • thanks Kyla.
I had tried out on those tips and yup they worked out well.
Initially, my boy age 9 , isn’t co-operative at all.
I had to change the password to make him listen.
Finally he had sat down, had a serious talk with me! I thought it should be the other way round!
Anyway, he agreed that no playing smartphone apps game when doing his homework, having meals.
Sometimes, he is BORED with these gadgets and kept pulling me out of here ( LiteraacyBase ) to play kicking ball in order to sweat out!

        • HAHA, it is funny when kids make us get a dose of our own “medicine”. My son would also get annoyed when he sees I am still trying to keep working if it’s my turn minding him after the nanny left. Maybe it is his way of telling me that I should focus on him instead, LOL!

    • Good tips all around and I am for kids going outside and playing something. On rainy days when around teens and tweens let them have their technology with the kids around me it is much quieter with the technology. I was a kid of seventies and eighties and that is what we did for the hand-held games were just starting then.

      • yes mark, during rainy days, there isn’t any way to get wet and have fun.
Might as well to keep the teens and kiddos quiet with the gadget for a while.

We do have board games, watching TV or painting together.
Ever noticed that kids do not like to do these stuff on their own?
They want us parents to participate too!
I had realized that we too need to take a break from laptop, smartphone, computer even when we are earning money.

    • It is just not kids. See me!! All my spare time I spend here. I must make use of some of your tips for myself (lol)

      • lol bestwriter!
You got it right, hit on the nail itself!
yeah I agree that we as parents are addicted to laptop and gadgets too.
Not for fun but for money making purpose.

hence, we too need to take a break every 1 hour or 2 hour to perform other tasks as well.

        I had noticed that too.

    • you are right shvkat!
We need to educate our kids that screentime is compulsory rule for them and for us too.
A time to take a break for their eyes to take a rest.
A time for the body to move about rather than sitting like a couch potato.
Obesity and overweight issues are on the rise.
Kids rude behavior during meal time and when adults talking to them are unacceptable.
Time to let technology to stop for a second before it is too late

    • Although I feel like gadgets can be useful in some ways, it’s gotten to a point where most kids know how to play temple run rather than dishes. What’s happening, kids should play outside and have fun at parks.

    • @Kayla, kids are now getting wiser in gadget manipulation. My niece at age 2 knows how to operate their TV and knows how to text her dad and mum. She keeps on calling them too. I never had experienced what my niece experiences this time.

    • This topic is a concern for more than just kids as we all know too well. I know people of age 30, 40 and older that can’t hardly eat or have a conversation without trying to sneak a peak for that one more text etc. Excellent article!

    • Truly I think kids ar3 turning everything around to suit there needs and that’s dangerous if anything kids should not even be given access to this gadgets when they are still in school because that just corrupts their minds, and that are not able to concentrate on their studies. The above tips could work out but remember there are kids who’s tantrums cannot be eased easily until they get what they want. So I think the best way is not to let them have access to this things until they ar3 old enough so that they do u get hooked

    • From smart phones to tablet computers, to the hundreds of channels and thousands of on-demand video offerings on TV, consumers have never had more options for how to spend their time. For parents, however, the amount of content that is out there can often lead to anxiety – about what their children watch on TV, what Web sites they are visiting and who they are talking to from behind all those electronic screens. So what’s a concerned parent to do?

To address this issue, many communications carriers have created technology that gives parents control over their kids’ use of their devices and services. “Parental control technology” describes a wide variety of software and hardware solutions that parents and caregivers can use to restrict the content their children can access and the people they can communicate with.

The challenge is that, depending on the technology, medium, and service provider, parental control options vary quite a bit, so finding the most effective way to protect your children from adult content you’d rather not let them access can be tough.

To address this, NCL has created a new series of articles to help consumers navigate the landscape of parental control technology and find the options that are best for their families.

    • Wow, looks so good and so yummy too. I feel hungry looking at the photo of this recipe. I salute you peach of your expertise in recipe. I hope you are that slim hehehehe.

      • Oh I am sure you are going to love this red bean soup.
It is super delicious and filling you are planning to go on a diet plan. The beans are nutritious and with the coconut milk, very full in deed. Thanks for your compliments. I love cooking and baking which is the reason why I share my recipes here and there. Oh don’t worry about my weight. 45kg, slim or not?

        • Yay, very much like this. I plan to buy the ingredients of this and practice cooking hehehe. Wow, you are very slim peach that is because you do not eat rice there .

          • sis!
I do eat rice everyday, white rice not brown rice.
We have to eat rice daily because it is the staple food in Malaysia.

I am slim because I don’t have gall bladder.
Was removed 10 years ago due to gall stones.
So my weight maintained 45kg since then.

Do cook this recipe and let me know soon

    • That indeed looks delicious and with so many ingredients little wonder that it would taste great too. It is a meal by itself.

      • yes indeed it is a meal by itself. Taste great if you having toast bread with your favorite jam or fried fritters. This is a common dessert soup among us Asian for tea time snack or morning breakfast.

You can cut down on the sugar, and the coconut milk to have a clear, smooth, light, red bean soup.

Hope that you will enjoy it.
        Cheers

    • Thanxs for the recipe, looks yummy and I’m always up for trying new cooking challenges. 🙂

    • Makes me want to try this type of soup. I never had Chinese sou[. Thanks for sharing! I just posted my first one and waiting for my 2nd approval.

    • Oh this one looks nice! I love to have it as an ice kachang or mixed with other sweetened things in a Filipino dessert called halo-halo 🙂 Yum!

    • I will make it at my home very soon because I am fond of cooking self for self not for others. It is a delicious soup. First of all get yourself some red beans, also known as adzuki beans. It’s a good idea to get this kind of stuff from a trusted vendor at the wet markets in Hong Kong.

They will usually have superior quality stuff which is reassuring as all beans look the same to me. The wet market vendor I go to is a super grouchy old guy with bushy white eyebrows who growls me whenever I ask a question but his merchandise is pretty good. I guess that’s why he growls?

Be sure to soak the red beans properly and then discard the soaking water. This will solve the problem of any, um, “extra air” after consumption of the beans. The traditional red bean dessert recipe also calls for dried tangerine peel , or Chenpi 陳皮, which you can also get at your local wet market. Sometimes you can see these tangerine peels hung in long festive coils from the ceilings of the dried goods shops as they air dry.

These Chenpi are used for many chinese dishes. They have an distinctive woodsy citrusy flavor that improves with age. Actually the aged tangerine peels can get very expensive!

peachpurple wrote a new post, Understanding & Overcoming Shyness 8 years, 4 months ago

Being a shy person is not inherited from the family itself.
Shyness can be a crippling self defeating habit that bring
disadvantages to a person personality, behavior and his
    future.

    What is Shyness […]

    • I am an entirely different person. I am an introvert by nature although I am in a profession that needs me to talk a lot- marketing.

      • oh you are working in a marketing line?
No wonder you can write so well , looked professional.
It s good to have a nature that is able to talk freely without any worries.
A person with the ability to strike up conversation with strangers anytime, anywhere is something that I can’t do.
        Kudos for your strength

    • When I was a young teenager, I was so shy and my shyness deprived me of my happiness. What I did when I enter college, I joined many organizations and during my highers level in college, I was the president of the many organizations like ROTARACT CLUB , Y’S MEN’S CLUB INTERNATIONAL and many more that shaped and molded my personality.

      • Me too.
When I was a teen, it was hard to be popular in school.
        I didn’t attend college.
I had to work, 3 jobs per day.
That is how I started to change my personality.
Had to be brave, social, able to strike up conversation in order to get my work done.
That is when I had came out of my tortoise shell

    • thanks for your compliments!
Yup I love drawing cartoons, always try to include in my posts.
You are an outgoing person, who dares to speak your own mind. I salute you for being brave rather than shy.
      I am a shy person.
But I learn to be brave after I started to work.
I had been bullied at work, back stabbed, learn to speak out.
Now, I can meet anyone and speak without any fear.
Experience is the key to success

    • wow so profound.
Yup shy people are often being bullied by the stronger ones.
Hence, they became fearless when they are used to bully the weaker ones.
      Shyness is a negative effect.
      Should overcome it

    • You are brave too, I guess that I am the shy type that had to overcome through trials and errors.

    • My sister is one who becomes shy often. It honestly wasn’t until she got a job as a server when she became more able to hold a conversation. I am going to show her this post I believe that she will like it. Awesome job I love this.

    • Too be shy is not intentional, but the concern must try her/his very best to overcome that shyness to avoid depression. To be always shy creates negative impact to the owner self. What to do, join an organization.

    • Being an introvert doesn’t mean that you are a shy person. Introverts are just people who don’t talk much, they are usually the type that say something only when they ar3 asked something. They may not talk much but they can do things that other people can’t. I remember i used to be a quiet person when I was younger but that never made me shy, i could stand out before people and talk in the begining I may have that shaky voice but as I go along I get better and better. I remember in school I was part of a drama team where i turned out to be the best actress something many people thought I would not pull off. So I may say that people who are shy doesn’t mean that they are rude or something like that. It’s just a part of life but you can overcome it as you grow older.
