I wouldn’t watch a horror movie even if I am getting paid to do so. I hate horror movies especially those which show dolls and children possessed by demons.

The images stay with me for a long time. I watch very little TV and few movies so I am very careful and choosy when it comes to watching something on screen.

    • I know almost all of those you have quoted… also remember; “Scarlett O’Hara was not beautiful but few men noticed when caught by her charm.”

“The Third Camel died at dawn.”

      • Yes. They are all great people. I think you are having some knowledge in Literature. But I am not. So the only thing I can do is just to appreciate the good writers and persons having good taste in literature. Thank you.

    • Opening lines are very not only in the writing of novels but also on academic works. I remember the days when I was to write my final year project my supervisor made me realized that my abstract must capture it all. That it must summarize the whole section of my project works. To put it shortly quality of opening lines cannot be overemphasized.

      • My Masters were asking us to write the project report. They were taking them to their houses and were making corrections. They were giving instructions in pen so that a student can remember the things well.

    • All great authors know how important an opening line is to grab the reader’s attention and instantly connect with them. But there is no opening line ever written that will ever be better than the one penned by Charles Dickens to introduce the reader to “A Tale Of Two Cities.” 🙂

      • I don’t think they are all necessary nowadays. People do not bother about the great opening and great closure. They want essence. They want information but not transformation. The transformation is already taking place and will take place without any effort. So they concentrate more on information.

    • yes. Those are great lines.

    • Yes. These opening lines and closing lines are meant for those who used to sit comfortably after their lunch and dinner in the open air. They need have to worry about their comforts not at all. They were thinking and knitting their words. I do not think they were doing that also. I can say that they wrote for their next generations. Who taught them about these closings and openings? No one I think.

    • This one fits Stephen King’s definition of great opening line: “Listen. Come in here. You want to know about this.”

    • Some very great quotes indeed!

    • I would prefer a book anytime over a TV program or movie. I like TV and movies but in small doses and they have to be exceptionally good with a strong plot, great cast and good story.

    • I get time only on Sunday. I will be busy various activities. There is no place for pastime as such. This is because I always want to keep myself fit and energetic both physically and mentally. Sunday is the only time I may feel bored. So for that, I planned a unique work created for myself.

I move out on my bike. If my friend comes in time I will take him along with me. I go different places in the city and sometimes to the outskirts take different pictures and videos and I upload them all on Youtube which pays for such videos. The name of the site is not recollecting now. We can post any material. If anybody clicks on that we get some small amount. Very interesting site. If I move out of the city it will be in the evening I return home. So I have not faced any problem in spending time in a useful manner. I hardly do any reading. But during nights that too once in a blue moon I watch some movies on Youtube. Only for news sake I watch TV.

    • It is an interesting topic how to pass time when you have nothing to do at home a very serious question for all of us. Many people think may ways to pass time reading books or watch plays or movies on internet or YVs. But is a critical question.

I pass my times reading poems and sonnets and odes written by classical writers in the past when I was a child. It is very interesting or I read the Holy Books.

But a new understanding of how the brain processes time could one day allow scientists to tweak an individual’s sense of timing.

New research suggests timekeeping in the brain is decentralised, with different neural circuits having their own timing mechanisms for specific activities.

Not only does it raise the possibility of artificially manipulating time perceptions, but the finding could also explain why our sense of time changes in different conditions – such as when we are having fun or are under stress.

When an individual is under stress, for example, it affects that amount of chemicals such as adrenalin in the brain. Scientists know adrenalin affects the rate of activity of neuronal activity.

Everybody can the way how to pass time is personal problem not of other people.

Rather than going to Chinese restaurants I decided to try out a few recipes myself and realised they taste  better t […]

    • At what stage do you add sweet corn?

Chicken corn soup is a must have dish in our home in winter and there is usually a pot in which stock is being prepared on a daily basis.

My recipe is quite similar to yours. But I make a coarse paste of sweet corn in blender and add it with shredded chicken in stock and boil thoroughly before adding cornflour paste.

      Yummy, yummy.

    • I love chicken and corn soup but I’ve never made my own. You recipe seems very easy. My kids would probably like it too. Tweeted! 🙂

    • Oh I always adapt and modify recipes anyway. There are a lot of mouths in my house and when cooking I have to try to consider everybody’s palette. It’s not easy these days since my cooking has to be modified drastically due my husband’s health condition. Now when I see a recipe I like, I have to start thinking what adjustments need to be made for family members starting with the hubby and then working my down to TLT (the last teenager). 🙂

    • I know only sweet corn soup I tasted it in the Hiking Chinese Restaurant. My children like it very much and offered me to taste it and then to go for ordering the soup. I selected it for me also. But the chicken part I do not know.

      • There is vegetarian soup also. Your must have been only sweet corn but that will not taste as good as chicken or crab.

    • It is a good recipe because soup is easy to digest and help for human health. We must make soup at home in winter to maintain heat of our body.

This is a quick and easy way to make this soup that is usually served at Chinese restaurants. For a tangy/hot flavor try this: about 3 to 4 hours before serving combine 1/4 cup vinegar and 3 finely chopped green chilies. Refrigerate until serving time and then sprinkle about a teaspoon of this on the soup. Enjoy!! Garnish with fresh scallions

    • They just want to know that your are there for them

    • S hurting child will sometimes be very quiet, and not really say anything just in case he is told that he is being too petty about some issues. When a child is hurt that will always throw tantrums others will get aimlessly just like you have mentioned above. And that can be very annoying trying to stop that child from crying can be a huge mess. But the best way is to show them that you are attentive to them. It’s not really about what you will give them but just your time would change everything. Time is very essential most people take it for granted they don’t spend much time with their children’s making their kids feel vulnerable and neglected and that’s why they will always get and throw tantrums.

    • In my case when a child is hurt I check what the issue is and then treat the child accordingly. I do not like to treat the child with kid gloves always. Sometimes it is needed to be done but many other times I explain them why they are crying and when they will stop crying and how they can help themselves in the situation.

I see many grown children also crying nowadays. For very minor issues. I feel they have been turned into delicate darling’s by there parents by showering too much of love and affection and also by being overprotective. This sort of a thing will never help the child and will turn out to be a problem when they grow as adults. An interesting article giving information on how to handle different children with varied mentalities. Best wishes.

    • I have not tasted it still but I will try to taste it soon making at home with the help of my cousin. Ingredients:
1 packet dumpling wrappers, for soup
1.5 liter chicken stock, homemade or store-bought
2 to 3 stalks baby bok choy
      spring onion, diced, for garnish
      sesame oil, to taste
salt, for cleansing the prawn meat
corn flour, for cleansing the prawn meat
      Fillings:
      250 gm pork mince
      160 gm prawn meat
3 shiitake mushrooms, soaked and shredded
30 gm bamboo shoots, frozen or canned, blanched in hot water then shredded
20 gm wood ears, blanched in hot water then shredded
      Marinade:
      2 tsp light soy sauce
      ½ tsp salt
      ½ tsp sugar
      ½ tsp oyster sauce
1 tsp cornflour / corn starch
½ tsp chicken powder / chicken bouillon
      1 egg white
      white pepper, to taste
      sesame oil, to taste

      Method:
Mix the prawn meat with a little of salt and corn flour. Leave them for about 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse and pat dry with kitchen papers. Cut each into 3 to 4 pieces.
Mix pork mince with marinade. Stir in the prawn, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, wood ears. Cover and chill in fridge for about 20 minutes, or until you’re ready to wrap dumplings.
Put a heaped spoon of fillings in the middle of a wrapper. Damp the wrapper around the fillings and seal the filling tightly, leaving the wrapper edges loosely. No need to make it perfect. Just make sure the fillings won’t leak out while boiling. Repeat this step to finish wrapping with the remaining fillings.
Bring the chicken stock to a boil over high heat in a pot.
In the meantime, carefully put dumplings into another large pot of boiling water over high heat. Stir the water with chopsticks in order to avoid the dumplings stick to the bottom. When the dumplings float to the water surface. Immediately transfer them into the chicken stock. Add bok choy and cook for a while. Season with salt. Sprinkle spring onion and sesame oil. Serve immediately.

    • A good sign and relief for bloggers. Some sites do not want the sustenance. They care more for earning than for stable standing. Just recently I heard from one of our colleague how the Elance is behaving with the writers and bloggers. In spite of that some people are helpless and are preferring such sites just because of lack of patience to browse and lack of self-respect. Of course, poverty is the curse for an educated. It is only some unscrupulous elements that play with their education and do business stooping down to any level. They go on writing reviews on this site as if it is distributing money freely on the streets of U.s. Further, they name this site as one of the best paying sites. How worst are these people? They are doing injustice to the very blogger community.

If the Literacy based does not fall into that category and take necessary steps as and when required I hope I will make its own mark on the Social Networking sites. Let us hope for the best.

      • This site reads our Blogs before they are aired or published. They encourage informative blogs and so far atleast they have paid. Hope this will continue.

    • I was there are BlogBourne. I already earned $5 for my first payment. I have still sufficient coins probably could earn $3 soon. I would sustain that site though I have to struggle to earn a penny. It doesn’t matter for me. I am also in several writing sites to share what I have in mind.

    • I’m glad that the site thrives and I hope it will last for a long time. it’s great to have a reliable source of online income. I haven;t been able to reach minimum so far but that’s the point where I’m heading

    • Today I earn same in here and in Blogborne and I did not make posts in none.
In Blogborne I make 7 cents and in here I make 6.
      This is only comments.
The biggest today is myLot. I made 9 cents.

I will not say anything about cents on any site. I see they all earn just cents.

    • I’m not in blogjourne so I cannot comment on that. But with you article but how its hard to earn on their blog, I won’t even think it now to register in that site. I’m good here in literacy base.

I was also expecting from you other sites as you insinuated in your title, but I see only blogjourne. Or maybe, you are just making the part two or part three of this post. Its nice to know some reviews from the concerned members itself.

    • Yes at least the rate is much better than BlogBourne and one can instead look for offline means rather than working for such low rates.

      • @PEEUSH TRIKHA LB is where you can write informative posts and in so doing you not only get paid you learn as writing informative posts needs research.

    • Some of us, having experienced the various scams and rip offs in ‘writing’ on line, knew Blogbourne was a joke and did not participate. I was extremely lucky. My item was held back for an ‘image’ and when I came to view, saw how these idiots had rewritten my article. So I deleted my article and ran.

      They shouldn’t exist much longer.

As to Blogjob, I don’t know why they stopped paying save that perhaps they weren’t earning the revenue.

One must understand that unless the owners are publicising the items so that a wider audience is gained, the site will fail.

    • There is an expression that we use about perserverance. “The race is not to the swift, but to the one who endures to the end.” The folk at BlogBourne are still online and building and growing, just like Literacy Base. Even though I am not active there, I know a few of the members and I wish them success. That may be the current rate as of now, but nobody knows what the future bold. At least they are not being dishonest and cheating people. They are telling you plainly what they are doing.

Literacy Base is also honest and straight forward. I have contacted Admin and Support and always received courteous responses, I can always check my history and see how many coins are being and what they were earned for, and can see my redeemable amount clearly.

Lbvs BB? I am more active at Literacy Base because the pay is better even though the pay out is higher. But I believe, because of my friends who are at the other site, that BlogBourne has potential to rise up. I have an account there. Now that I know some money can be earned, I may pop in from time to time to leave comments. I am still not ready to commit to supplying blog posts. Has nothing to do with their Site Admin. I’m just too lazy to write up 400 words. (O.o)

Good points made by everybody else who commented before me. 🙂

      • @TreathylFOX
I was at BB may be an hour ago and I noticed after that announcement which was made on lst October I saw just one blog on the main page. The highest coins that one has got there is around 8000 plus and that too after so many months which when translated to dollars it is less than 5. Any sense?

There has to be some sense in the slowness of any site but this is too much.

        • The problem is very basic; originally writing sites had readers. Google and other Search Engines did not discriminate so that if you wrote an article here on Zika it would show up on a Google and people would click.

As the only people on writing sites are other writers on writing sites there is little revenue.

    • It seems good that the site enjoys good reputation. Hope it maintain this trend. Anyhow I am enjoying my stay here on this site.

    • What is your method of promoting your prestigious posts? What benefits do you enjoy by doing so? I want you to write a post in this connection. Hope you consider my request.

    • When I heard about the BB site I was like… hmmmm … I went there and posted and then got a message about the ‘image’. When I returned to fix the image which had to be X by Y or whatever I noticed they had changed up my item.

I took it down and ran as if pursued.

That site and the TC one turned me off at start.
