suny wrote a new post, Pros and cons of legalizing drugs 8 years, 5 months ago

Legalizing drugs is fine for a couple of insignificant countries. But for a progressive country like ours, which has lot to contribute to the betterment of the world, it would be a step backwards. Why don’t we s […]

    • In the country where I live any kind of drug except in the pharmacy are not legalized.I do not favor illegal drug to be legalized.

    • Legalizing drugs is actually the recommended approach of the United Nations today. The focus needs to move from criminalizing addiction, to harm reduction and treating addiction as the medical concern that it is.

In countries that have legalized marijuana and other drugs, there has been no ill effect. In fact, crime rates tend to drop and young people are less likely to consume.

    • Drug legalization would yield tax revenues of $46.7 billion annually, assuming legal drugs were taxed at rates comparable to those on alcohol and tobacco, they said. Approximately $8.7 billion of this revenue would result from the legalization of marijuana, $32.6 billion from legalization of cocaine and heroin, and $5.5 billion from legalization of all other drugs.

“Legalization would reduce state and federal deficits by eliminating expenditure on prohibition enforcement — arrests, prosecutions, and incarceration — and by allowing governments to collect tax revenue on legalized sales,” Miron and Waldock wrote.

Marijuana is already believed to be the nation’s number one cash crop, exceeding the combined value of wheat and corn. Pot is also the leading cash crop in at least a dozen states, including California and North Carolina.

Of course, opponents of drug legalization argue that passage of the ballot would increase crime and ultimately worsen peoples’ health,
rendering legalization a danger to public safety, offsetting the potential economic gains.

    • Reading about your trips, I am reminded very quickly why I don’t like to travel much! Just reading about all the different legs of your journey has me tired! I would be the girl to prefer a direct flight if at all possible – and actually, a train better than a plane. I find it more comfortable and more interesting.

Tanikka Paulk wrote a new post, Greed is Trouble 8 years, 5 months ago

Watch out for greed. It can take people to places they simply don’t want to go but they don’t know they don’t want to go there at first. Greed can create war and cause division. It doesn’t solve problems. Greed […]

    • I agree! Greed is the root of many problems and very directly related to money and being selfish at times.

      • Greed involves selfishness. We’ll all been selfish at some point but greed is on another level. It rarely is out to help but it will be out to take as much as it can. The bible certainly tells us how much pain greed can inflict. If we want to know more about greed then that’s where we can obtain resourceful information.

    • Knowing the difference between need and want can solve many a problem

    • Greed knows no boundary… It will fail you eventually…

      • This is so true. But the thing about greed is that it tends to inflict pain upon others who are just at the mercy of these greedy people.

        • It can create pain for others and it continues to do so. Greed is one of those things that will be here until the end of time. We have to try to avoid greed and sometimes we’re surrounded by those who are so consumed with greed that they lose their heart when it comes to other people. They may not desire to help others but to receive and rarely give.

      • Greed doesn’t care. It is similar to hate. Greed can take people places they wouldn’t agree to go normally but because the greed has taken hold. They become monsterous. Sometimes people can seem as if they have it all but they may want more and more. Some people become riddled with greed at an old age. It’s so unfortunate.

      • Greed doesn’t care. It is similar to hate. Greed can take people places they wouldn’t agree to go normally but because the greed has taken hold. They become angry. Sometimes people can seem as if they have it all but they may want more and more. Some people become riddled with greed at an old age. It’s so unfortunate when greed flows all through atmosphere. We are often surrounded by greed but thank God that we can pray those things away from us.

      • I hope you’re not implying that I’m greedy. Greed doesn’t live in hearts of those who are giving but can live in those who expect one to take care of everyone. That’s greed in itself. Sometimes one can’t avoid coming in contact with greed. Have a blessed.

    • There are so numerous greedy people all over the world. By hook or by crook they do whatever good for them and bad for others. We even have greedy relatives wanting to own the inheritance from parents and do bad to own siblings just to satisfy their greediness. But sad to know those greedy people usually suffer deadly disease until time comes their money vanish on earth and so they as payment of their sins.

      • Greed destroys and sometimes it runs in families or it enters our lives some how. Even if greed enters a person’s heart, they can remove it, by asking the Lord to take it away from them in the name of Jesus. Greed causes so many problems just like hate. It’s understood why it’s one of the deadliest sins.

    • There’s plenty of information about greed and there’s scriptures that will tell us how awful greed is. People can lose their minds over greed. It causes rifts in families and causes pain within our society. We never know when it will make it’s way within our communities and within our homes. Greed can create chaos.

    • Greed is the reason for many horrible things. Greed is never good.

    • If only we conserve our resources there is enough for not just one world but several worlds. The role of an individual is what matters.

    • I would not want to leave our beautiful earth, but I don’t think we should stop others from exploring space or attempting to found extraterrestrial colonies. Many aspects of space exploration have practical applications here on earth. And if we should establish colonies on other planets, it might help to relieve some of the pressures on our environment while we work on repairing the damage to our environment.

suny wrote a new post, Violence in multicultural societies 8 years, 5 months ago

We hear so many incidents of violence in places where multicultural societies exist. What I feel multiculturalism and integration will work so long as the indigenous population of the host nation understand that […]

    • Violence in any society is common due to I think lack of education in men and women. No program of education is started seriously in any country because those who start the programs against the increasing violence are violence maker nature wise but the leaders know well but they just fulfill their temporary responsibility and nothing else all over the world.

Growing up used to be less traumatic just a few decades ago. Children back then worried about such things as a flat tire on their Schwinns and hoped that their teacher wouldn’t give too much homework.

Violence has always been a part of the human condition because of our sin nature (Rom. 3:23). But modern families are exposed to even more violence than previous generations because of the media. Any night of the week, the average viewer can see levels of violence approaching and even exceeding the Roman Gladiator games.

Does this have an effect? Certainly it does. The Bible teaches that “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Prov. 23:7). What we view and what we think about affects our actions.

Defenders of television programs say that isn’t true. They contend that televised imagery doesn’t make people violent nor does it make people callous to suffering. But if televised imagery doesn’t affect human behavior, then the TV networks should refund billions of advertising dollars to TV sponsors.

In essence, TV executives are talking out of both sides of their mouths. On the one hand, they try to convince advertisers that a 30-second commercial can influence consumer behavior. On the other hand, they deny that a one-hour program wrapped around the commercials can influence social behavior.

suny wrote a new post, Guess what- A toilet in Bohol 8 years, 5 months ago

I know there are many members from Philippines on this site and most of them would be aware about the famous toilet restaurant of Bohol. The social media was full about the famous toilet in Bohol that was making […]

    • I wonder how the cleaner manages to clean this big toilet.
She needs to clean the shelves and re-stack all the books.

    • If you search “Shell Toilet in Bohol” you will be amazed to see the result.

    • I live in Ph,and been to Bohol but never know that there is a toilet like this in Bohol, hahaha, What will be the odor of the entire area. I may ask my co-teacher about this matter.

    • A toilet here in Bohol is currently making a buzz in the internet world when a foreigner uploaded a video of his visit at the Shell Gas Station. The video was mentioned on various sites which made the toilet more popular. Due to curiosity of what makes the toilet famous, I visited the Shell Gas Station’s famous toilet.

When you enter a public toilet, you would first notice the smell of the place. When I entered the Shell gas station’s toilet, my experience was totally different since the smell was very good. The room was just like I was inside a luxurious hotel. The background music added more appeal to the place. With the slow music and Christmas songs playing, the place tempted me to stay longer. Since the toilet is very clean and well-maintained, the place definitely provides the meaning of CR – Comfort Room. I was not only relaxed with the ambiance of the toilet but I also enjoyed looking at the displayed magazines and souvenir items.

There was one thing that caught my attention inside the comfort room, the telephone. Yes, there is a telephone inside the toilet.

According to the employees of the gas station, the owner, Rex Carampatana, conceptualized the luxurious toilet. Rex wanted to promote the tourism and to provide the customers a comfortable and unique experience. The employees were amazed with the popularity of the toilet. According to them, a lot of local and foreign visitors are now visiting the toilet.
