Love and Elopement Walk Side by Side in Life

Love is an essential part of human nature because when woman was created by God made it with tender hands and her breast made full of love for man and children on earth. Without love man and woman both are useless on earth because love conquers all not hate and jealousy as most of the women have fallen prey to jealousy due to unknown mysterious causes. Basically woman’s nature is loving and caring not jealous and greedy.

I have seen in practical field that woman’s love is stronger than man’s love because woman controls man’s brain and conceptions through their strong will power and woman’s will power become indomitable by any means. I have seen that woman’s thinking about her lover her thinking is a web for the lovers and death of his life heart and soul.

I have also read in many newspapers that most of the women flee from homes with the lovers just for the sake of love and nothing else but most of the men deceive women is really bad thing and cheat with women is unnatural as I think but what other people think I do not know but all hate those men who deceive women in love.

Madeline loved Porphyro with her heart and soul but both of the tribes were hostile to each other therefore their marriage was uncertain. Once at evening of The Eve of St. Agnes they planned to flee from home forever at last they fled from the home in darkness and the history tells us they have been found still where they have gone leaning the home in darkness.

John Keats’ poem ST. Agnes is one of the best poems in England and out of England because it thoroughly deals with a girl who runs away from her home with her lover on the Eve of St. Agnes. It is a narrative poem with a historical incident. It becomes entirely impersonal and the writer can not invent facts except for the element of personality that he conveys it by style and his treatment of theme.

The Eve of St. Agnes is a story of love and adventure in the medieval setting. It is based upon the medieval legend of St. Agnes. The legend was that if a woman was to do certain ceremonies without eating something and went to bed. She would have a delightful vision of her future husband in dream. Madeline a beautiful maid went to fasting to bed and fell asleep in the lap of St. Agnes legend. Porphyro and Madeline belonged to two hostile tribes.

Somehow Porphyro got access to Madeline’s chamber through the help of Angela, an old nurse. He asked Madeline by means of music and eloped with her while inmates of the castle were sleeping after making the revelry of night. Therefore the poet exclaimed in these words:

“Give me that voice again, my Porphyro

Those looks immortal those complaining, dear,

Oh leave me not in this eternal woe

For if thou diest, my love. I know not where to go,”

In the broader sense, this poem is a glorious record of Keats love for past tradition.

That is why; he gives a mediaeval setting in the poem full of daring and adventure. It reminds us of mediaeval accessories, the adventurous Knight. Its world is full of romance, full of love and adventure.

It is a beautiful romantic poem because medievalism in literature denotes the recapture of the spirit and atmosphere of the middle Ages. The romantics did not care for the churches. Mediaevalist cared for the churches and portrayed its beautiful features in their poetry.

They discuss their religion and faith of middle ages. They laid stress upon the romance of chivalry, love, superstition with all its paraphernalia of romance and legend, love and adventure are most prominent in the poem of St. Agnes.

To sum up, it is a famous poem of Keats. Its style and diction both are impressive. Its imagery and thoughts are beautiful and enchant the readers’ eyes and ears while reading the poem. The poet makes prominent a true love between Madeline and Porphyro both belonged to two rival families. In spite of this their love remains true and find each other with the help of St. Agnes’ help.

    • Love never dies for those people who had found true love. It would be eternal if both souls unite and have mutual feelings. Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't follow the same path of loving someone. The inner feelings will not be questioned. That feeling will last forever and can still love somebody on a different level. It will be treasured at the back of their senses and learn to love somebody.
