Let’s join MyKidMadeThis Challenge

Would you like to teach your kids some real life skills where they can be very useful to the kids all the time? I think cooking is considered an essential skill for everyone, so we can at least prepare some simple and healthy food at home. Katie Kimball from Kitchen Stewardship is hosting this free and easy challenge – “My Kid Made This” challenge where it encourages the kids to make some healthy snacks and lunches. This challenge takes place once a week in August, so you can sign up now and get your kids to be busy in the kitchen in this month.

Some attractive benefits for joining this challenge:

  • You will get a plan for what to do, step-by-step instructions on how to do and kid-friendly recipe, so you know better how you can plan for this challenge, and how to get the supplies for your kids to start work with. Moreover, this might be a good opportunity to teach them to read the recipe.
  • You will also get a free eBook from Kitchen Stewardship “Summer Vacation Survival Kit” where it contains 20 activities for kids which ages 3 to 12. What I like about this survival kit is that you might not need to spend much to do these activities, and the kids will surely have fun and they are learning too.
  • If you capture a picture of your kids making something and share on the social media sites, such as twitter, Facebook, pinterest, Instagram and tag with #mykidmadethis, you might be winning some great prizes from Kitchen Stewardship. You can also share text updates if you do not like to share a photo.
  • You will be able to access the Free Knife Skills for Kids series by Katie Kimball. I really recommend watching this video series, as I have learned how to use knife to cut things properly from this series. I have let my young children to use knife to cut food before, but I did not teach them the proper way, I just asked them to be careful not to cut their fingers. You can also let your children watch these videos, and they will learn how to use knife with this interesting and easy ways. There are some rhymes singing along with cutting as well, and my kids remember them all the time now.

An premier online course “Kids Cook Real Food” will also be opened for registration in August, the Free Knife Skills for Kids series is one of the classes in the course. If you are interested in teaching the kids how to cook, this might be a good chance for you to preview what the course is like. If you do not have kids but are interested in learning how to cook, this might be good for you too.
