Lack of Rains in Delhi NCR in January winter time: Is this something to be neglected or be acted upon?

Till many years, we used to see a set pattern of weather in Delhi NCR, and in fact most parts of India.
Summers started in April and May to early July were very harsh. It was first harsh dry summers and then it was hot and humid.
July to early September used to be awash with a lot of rains, except for some drought years here and there.
Of course, there were years when it used to rain in excess, and once in 1977, Delhi had floods!
Then we had pleasant weather from Late September till Mid November, when we also have many festivals like Navratris, Durga Puja, Dusshera and then Diwali.
Mid Novemeber used to see coming of winters which peaked in Late December to Mid to Late January, extending till February Middle sometimes.
Then, January was famous for rains, which at times even caused temperatures, especially during nights to rise, thus causing almost a uniform weather throughout.
Late February heralded Springs.
Then, perhaps due to increase in Industrialization and urbanization, and increase in Land, Water and Air pollution, trends started changing. Weather also started to change, most probably because of these reasons.
We now have sudden spells of rains in August and September, at times the rains are so intense that they cause intense waterlogging and then it does not rains for days.

Summers see record breaking temperatures at many places which are now 2 to 3 degrees higher than the normal.
Weather change is even sharper in Australia, England, France and many places in United States.

Yet coming back to the topic of this post, one significant thing; and I call it significant based on my own observation is the lack or near absence of rains during the month of January.
This so far has not made into the headlines. Yet this is sometimes discussed in brief.
Yet for I, this is significant. This is serious too!
The rains in January have a special significance.
The winters that start in November and peak in Mid January bring with them dry and cold winds from Northern Himalayas and from west too.
The winter rains used to bring moisture and also were not heavy, and were good for the wheat crop. Logically, if the rains stop, or become very less, we get devoid of all the moisture and the wheat crops won’t get that natural rain. Moreover, in some winters, we have seen abrupt and heavy rains in Jan/Feb which rather destroys the crops.

So, I think we have to start analyzing why the rains have become so less during January, and overall work towards restoring the balance of weather patterns through focused environment restoration and other Programs, and using lesser fossil fuels and taking other measures.
What do you say?

    • We can expect the heat to pick up especially in the months of April and May. This time of the year there were rains in Bengaluru, Delhi also had rains, Hyderabad had a hail storm two days back. Water levels have again reduced drastically due to increase in temperature since last three days. We are being told to be prepared for water shortage.

Hoping against hope that there will be sufficient water to see the country through till the time monsoon sets in, in the month of June which will be eagerly awaited by one and all. Last year in Hyderabad we had good rains and despite that this is the current situation this summer. Keeping my fingers crossed and observing how summer progresses.
