There are times when we find it hard to keep up words while our heart says to go ahead and keep your promise but our mind says that we should do what is demand of the hour. I remember an incident when I had accepted to attend a seminar arranged by regional marketing manager of the area in a remote district of Haryana state as chief guest.
But I was required to attend another important meeting in Bangalore on the previous dat. It was fine for me if I would refuse the Haryana meet as a marketing head has lots of reasons to attend or not attend a particular meeting if he finds something more important to do. I had no choice but to inform the concerned regional manager and depute another deputy marketing manager to attend as chief guest.
I was anxious about the outcome of the seminar as we were in the introductory stage of our product in that state and we were facing a tough competition from another reputed manufacturer therefore a lot depended on the success of that seminar. However, everything turned out as we had expected and we had succeeded in doing well as for booking of our equipment was concerned. I always thought that it’s not the company alone but the workers are also important factor in trust building.
It was a professional matter and I found a solution for the problem in a professional way but we all face such occasions in our personal life when we find it hard to keep our words. I have always had a firm belief in keeping my words and promises as I believe that people that keep their words are the fortunate ones. But some of us do not feel the same or take their words too lightly.
However, people that do not care for their promises are not considered trustworthy. They never care for their words but people who consider their words as important and keep them as much as possible take every step to keep their reputation intact. Let me clear at this point that people consider marketing professionals as untrustworthy or tell lies for their professional reasons but the fact is that in marketing field also the trust is the most important factor.
If you ever told someone that you would be at a particular place at a fixed time then do you reach there at your pre-fixed time? Maybe yes or maybe not but most people whom I know and the list includes with successful people are not serious about punctuality.
They always find an excuse to beg out of the appointment? But I am proud of the fact that I try to reach a few minutes earlier than appointment time even if I have to wait before knocking the door at the exact time of appointment. I know some of you might ask, ‘what difference does it make if we reached there a couple of minutes after the scheduled time?’
I know what difference does it make, I would never meet them again those do not know the importance of time.
