It is not a secret to understand that a particular market related ideology is driving force behind the running of so-called free social media. In fact, there is nothing free or social about any of the social networking sites but everything has a marketing strategy.
For instance if Mark Zuckerberg decided to ban users one fine morning from Facebook platform then what would be your choice, or Jack Dorsey decides to ban tweets from a certain section of members.! I know they would not do that in their own interest but there is no denial about the possibility provided their profitability goes down.
The fact that freedom of expression provided to us by the social media has an indirect control by the market forces and very much in the hands of certain private companies having their stake for the sake of their own benefit. The day these companies see any problem in their profitability they will act and social media will dance to their tunes.
You can very well see the trend if you look at the so-called free blogging sites that offer you pennies in the name blogging but they keep a total control on your expression by giving you different writing guidelines. In my views, that is not blogging but sponsored writing keeping an eye on the revenue generated by members.
Just imagine the scene if Facebook or Twitter decide to ban members having a certain viewpoint or write according to their policies, what do you think would be the future of social discussions the society is currently engaged with?
If you ask me the blogging sites are nothing but commercial shops driven by the market forces which will be closed down as soon the profit reduces. I also feel that all this talk of freedom of expression will disappear once the market forces decide to stop their backup.

There are writing sites that do that even now. They test you and then reject you if they are not satisfied. I is irritating when they give you the reason that the site is only for a particular region of the world. They should first make that clear so that time is not wasted.
This is something that is already happening, just like beatwriter has said that would give you all the reason that they need certain people to work on some site, and even give you guidelines but the thing is they use other people from different countries to make something out of them to maintain their sites and and up not paying their users. I am very familiar with that and it is devastating to many users.
