The recent arrest of the Russian opposition leader Alexie Navalny and at least 500 peaceful protesters, human rights observers and journalist in Moscow in connection with their rallies against the alleged corruption of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has put into spotlight once again the state of freedom in Putin Russia.
It appears that what transpired in this peaceful rally is a simple government crack- down against the protesters in order to silence the opposition. It is a well-known fact that Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is the protégé of President Vladimir Putin.
This being so it is most likely that President Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has a direct hand on this crack-down of the peaceful rally.
Vox Populi Vox Dei
It is a basic postulates and truism in any democratic and republican society that “the voice of the people is the voice of god”. The people themselves are the direct source of all government authority since sovereignty always resides in the people.
Such government crack-down of the protesters is reminiscent of the old Kremlin under the U.S.S.R. or under the Communist Government, where the freedom of expression, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom to peaceably assemble and petition the government for the redress of grievances were then practically non-existent in Russia.
But Russia is no longer under the Communist Rule one might say. Yes it is true but the thinking of Mr. Putin and Mr. Medvedev are totally different with regards to the right of the people side by side with the exercise of government authority.
One may also ask why not just allow these protesters to express their views?
Issue Of Corruption Against Prime Minister Demitry Medvedev
The primary issue being raise by the protesters is the allegation of corruptions against Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev that he owns mansions, yachts and vineyards which presumably under his current salary he cannot possibly afford to
buy. Indeed the allegations of corruptions in this case is so serious since the person involve is no less than the Prime Minister of Russia not to mention the values or amount of all these properties.
Mr. Medvedev must personally and directly answer all these allegations of corruption so that the trust and confidence of the Russian people on him will not be eroded.
The more that Mr. Medvedev remains silent about these allegations then doubt and suspicions on the mind of the Russian public will continue to linger on.
It is the duty of any elected or appointed government officials to be always transparent in all their public and private dealings. The public has always the right to know.
It is not sufficient on the part of Mr. Medvedev to just simply rely on his spokeswoman by simply dismissing that the allegations of corruptions as merely “propagandistic attack”.
If these is merely propagandistic attack, then why there is a need to arrest the opposition leader Alexie Navalny as well as the other 500 persons in the rally?
Is it because that these protest rally might spread like wild fire throughout Russia resulting in the down fall of the government of Mr. Putin and Mr. Medvedev?

I think it's interesting that people refer to the country as “Putin's Russia”. Yeah. I do believe the man owns the country. When you own something you can do whatever you want with it. Nobody calls America, “Trump's America”. Not yet anyway.
