I am for a life without alcohol.

I want to talk about alcohol not that I would feel hostility to those who choose to consume alcohol. And not because I would feel better choosing to live soberly than others who do not. I am also not going to make excuses for my choice. It’s just an open reflection on the strange questions that I get from the surrounding. This is a desire to encourage look at the world with more open eyes.

Why you do not drink, maybe pregnant? Is not it strange that pregnant women, taking care of the baby and not drinking alcohol is a matter of course, but not pregnant and not drinking women – something unusual? Why to take care of the baby is good, and to take care of yourself, your health – is inappropriate?

Moderate use of alcohol for adults is healthy. I will not share links to research about the fact that even small amounts of alcohol does damage to the brain and the whole body, weaken the immune system, rather than strengthen it. For me personally it is enough the direct body signals – headache.

But alcohol is varied and tasty, it helps to socialize. I see no sense to look for tasty alcohol, if there is no inner need, and benefits are very questionable. And why socialization with people who are not able to respond calmly to the decision to drink what you want: juice, tea and other soft drinks?

What bad will happen from one glass of wine or champagne? And what good will happen from one glass of wine or champagne? And in general, why it is bad to give up on champagne or a glass of wine, but nothing wrong to refuse other products that people do not like: raisins, mushrooms, olives, etc.?

You are limiting yourself, refusal of alcohol is extreme. No, I do not restrict myself. When I refuse to drink, I express my freedom of choice. In my opinion, self-limitation is when you agree to drink a little only because the others expect it from you. If you have to create an exception, it’s by free will and your decision.

Now I even better realize that I’m happy to live without alcohol. Nice to look with a smile on my experience, learn from it and move forward.

    • That's good that you don't drink alcohol. Though, when drank in moderation and not often they can be healthy, like the beer and the red wine.

I only drink on occasions, margarita , tequila, red wine, champagne , light beers and juice with a little alcohol.

I don't feel any headache at all, even if I get tipsy.
