Hunza Valley: The Paradise of the World Tourists

Hunza Valley is the famous part of Gilgit Baltistan and Karakoram, and behind it the visitors will Mighty Rakaposhi Snow Capped Mountains Ranges but is famous among the people of the world, Hunza Valle and it is the most beautiful place that attracts the tourist’ attention.

I went to visit Hunza in spring in 1986 when I was the second year Ma English (Part II) in BZU Multan, Punjab. The Hunza Mountains and the colored flours of mountains welcomed me with open heart and the air was fresh and chirping birds were twittering on the trees and some flowers were blooming on the mountain that were very beautiful and attractive. All the flowers were shining in the sun rays.

I think that Hunza Valley is one of the most visited valises all over the world. The tourists of the whole world call it a Fairy Land or The Paradise of the Tourists. From Gilgit to Hunza is the distance of 100km.Actually Hunza is a small valley on the Karakoram Highway and its altitude is 700 to 800 feet and while travelling from Pakistan o China it is the first town.

While travelling to Hunza Baltit is one of the best stops for the tourists full of snow covered mountains, Bublimotin Ladyfinger Rakaposhi, Bojahagur , Peak,,Ultar Sar, Duanasir i Ghenta Peak,Hunza Peak, Passu Peak andDiran Peak.

The Mountain Meadows were full of colored flowers as white, pink, blue, red and so and so… but all were huge and fascinating for eyes. I and my friends travelled from Alia bad to Hussainabad. It was spring season and the flower season was on the peak with us there was a foreigner lady who botanist who collected from there different types of flowers for her laboratory test. They were happy so the flowers.

Hunza valley is the most beautiful valley of the world that gives a warm welcome to the visitors of the whole world. It is located in Himalayan and Karakaram regions of Gilgit. Reaching here the writer enjoyed its fascinating beauty, fruits, greenery, culture and the civilization of Hunza valley. Its water is too cold to drink and is injurious to health and stomach. Gilgit, Nomal, Chalt, Hussan-a-Bad, Paso and Sarat all provide charms to the sights and fresh air to the health of the visitors. As the text shows:

“In the morning a fresh carpet of snow lies about

the huts and trickles of mud from the earthen roofs

splattered your bedding.”

Hunza valley is alive with variety, charisma and local color. Most of the Hunzanions are poor, Muslim by faith and farmers by occupation. Their life is hard. Their earning depends on gold washing in the streams and selling ice, got from the high mountains.

Women make embroidery of different kinds for their needs and livelihood but not for sale purpose. It is bordered with China, Russia and Afghanistan. Their lives are simple free of pomp and show. They act upon the Muslim culture and their religion is Islam. As the text shows:

“The people are of Muslim faith (Mulai Sect). Farming is

their real occupation, the main crops being wheat,

barley and oats.”

Hunza valley-weather is very hot in summer and very cold in winter. Besides it also creates problems for the visitors and local people in traveling. First the writer started traveling to Nomal leaving Gilgit. Its paths were narrow but suitable for the packed animals. Chalt’s paths were also dangerous in climbing up the valley. Hussan-a-Bad have a very attractive and beautiful polo ground and green cultivated lands. Paso is also full of dangers. The writer did not go there due to falling stones from the height with full speed with the water. As the text shows:

“And finally sleep despite the distractions of constant

cracking noises in the glaciers, and the loud report

of stone falling near the camp.”

At the end, the writer says that Hunza is full of natural beauty: attractive too much glaciers, cloudy weather, valley full of colored flowers, weeping streams from the high mountains, snow capped mountains ever rising smoke from them, beautifully cultivated green lands for the crops of the next year and the travel is dangerous but full of joys the joy that cannot be forgotten till death. As the text shows:

“And the deep caverns, crevasses, and frail ice bridge

Sparkle in the sunlight with fascinating beauty.”

The people of Hunza are nice and sincere and simple also in dealing and living. They proved good guiders and trustworthy companions in the travel. They enjoy life according to the Hunza tradition and customs.

    • what a beautiful place to visit. i love natural beauties of nature. wish i could be there some day in my life.

    • jhsayyar..It is a pity that we have places like Hunza,Kaghan and Swat in our country. We may in our vacations go there and enjoy the beauty of Nature. But most of us are always hesitant, having lame excuses. Even the well to do people dismiss the idea and that is the reason why we become victims to diseases. We are always willing to go to a doctor and spend huge amounts but say no to going out on picnic.

    • Glad that you got to visit this great place. I too love nature and have had the occasion to spend time at some places but this place is truly scenic.

    • It is unfortunate that we could not have a chance to visit the place. We had been to Punjab on a tour. We stayed for a week. We had visited many places in and around But we always felt short of time. We heard about it.
I remember well that at that time the road was the road blocked somewhere and we could not make a further move.
It is really interesting to know about this valley. A similar valley is in Vizag of Andhra Pradesh. This is known by the name Araku. A good weather. Even in the summers also the weather will be cool. This is a paradise for people to visit in summer and spend their time.
The difference is that in the Hunza valley the weather is both hot and cold of extreme nature. But in Araku valley it will be cool always.
