The Whole day Prayers
– As you enter the gigantic gates of the campus guards won’t fail to greet you a “goodmorning” with a smile , and as you go along the way, nuns are always present around to welcome you and of course to show respect you are obliged to kiss their hand. In the Philippines we call this tradition as “mano” it is a gesture being done to elders to show respect. The chapel is always present where you can ask for guidance as you struggle your whole day. Your Day will not Start without morning prayers, an opening song will be sung by the glee club members over the speaker heard by the whole student body. Then, the gospel will be read by the assigned prayer leaders. After the gospel reading, we will be ask to take a minute of silence for personal prayers and reflection. After some moments of silence, we will be praying the Lord’s Prayer and after that, the closing song will be sung. At 12 pm Everyone should stop whatever they are doing when “Angelus” starts. At 3pm “Prayer of Peace” will be prayed before the bell will ring for dismissal.
We pray to adore, thank, say sorry for our sins, and to ask for guidance and the necessary things we need from God. As a catholic, I could say that there is nothing wrong with being prayerful this only shows how respectful and faithful you are to God the father. And that is just one thing I learned from my school.
The “Hair” rule
– Our hair as they say is the best asset in our body, hair indeed is our crowning glory. But how would you react if your own school does not allow you to show off your long hair in loose manner? Basically you have to tie your hair all the time! It’s either you have it in “pony tail” or “pig tails” or “fish tail” but not in other types of braid. Great isn’t it? You’re not allowed to wear flower crowns or even ribbons and any accessories on your hair. So if you’re fond of collecting cute ribbons and clips better keep them on school days and not wear them inside the campus or you’ll be noticed by nuns around. This rule might be too frustrating yet we managed to follow it at some point because of a reason. We are at school and we don’t necessarily need those stuffs in studying, We are taught to be simple and we are more beautiful just by being neat all the time.
You can be who you are!
– Being a young lady needs a lot of consciousness in everything she do. To be prim and proper is a value that is expected to be done by a young lady. In an all girls school, a lot of values are being taught and you can show anybody who you are. They accept you no matter what without any discrimination. Opinions and thoughts are being heard fairly if you are in doubt of something. Services and quality of education are given to students fairly. There is definitely no bias at all because we are all equally treated.
Shouting “who has extra pad?” in the whole class without hesitation
– Forgot to bring extra pads? No worries cause your classmates will save your day! You won’t be shy to ask for extra napkins since you are all girls, and you understand what each of you has been going through every month.
Temporary Crushes
– High school as they say is the level in your life where you’ll be experiencing craziness and at the same time fun in your level. Of course having crush is a normal thing. It’s either you admire this girl on varsity team or maybe this cute male teacher who eventually is the heart throb in your batch! Lol. But soon you’ll realize that they’re not cute anymore in your sight since you’re always stalking them on their Instagram account so you’ll try to find another cutie on your school. And of course it’s a normal thing seeing two girls walking while holding hands. ( does it freak you out now?)
Values
– There are more than a lot of experiences you can have when you study in an all girls school, but aside from crazy and fun experiences you can have, the best thing that you can get are the values being taught in an all girls school. Simplicity is a major value you should learn to imply for the betterment of yourself, learn to get away with unnecessary wants and just stick with your most needs. Through this you’ll be able to cope up with others, you’ll be able to learn the value of solidarity, the value where in you learn to build relationship with others and treat as your second family and in building your relationship with you learn to solidify and treasure the memories you have with them through that camaraderie, mutual respect and unity is being develop within yourself and the community.
