It is Holi today in India. The festival of colours………….colours which mark love and bonhomie for everyone around.
In the morning, people mix various water soluble colours in water and then apply it on anyone coming on their way. In fact, they find their friends, acquaintances and neighbours from their home and apply colours over them. The mode of administration of the colours are also various like filling up the watery solution in small or large sized objects for the purpose of syringing from distance or spraying on a passersby. These equipments find favour with children. Another mode is filling up balloons specially designed to carry these aqueous solutions. The balloons are then thrown on the target person which bursts and spills colours on the target person upon impact. This mode finds favour with older children or with young adults. Sometimes people make a paste of colours and apply on the other person by hand only. This mode is preferred by grown-ups. Many a time, mugs or buckets full of colour solutions are emptied on the target person. Sometimes, in community settings, a reservoir of colour solution is made and persons immerse themselves either voluntarily or are simply pushed into the same. Overall it is a great fun for all and sundry.
After playing with colours people take long baths to remove the colours as much as is possible and get ready for the evening with new clothes. In the evening, people visit places of their loved ones carrying sweets and another type of colour powder which is used dry now. These colours are applied on the other person. Overall, it is a happening time around here.
The biggest feeling is that people free themselves from all inhibitions and indulge in activities which on other days would be a terrible act. Of course, some persons tend to overdo the freedom and step on the happiness of other persons this creates fear psychosis for some but overall it is a festival of colours and joy.
Happy Holi…..:)

@Lakhi Hapi Holi day to you all there. Wow, this is a happy festival. Though, it would be not good to those who will be reporting to their offices.
Or perhaps this day is a Holiday there, so no one will be going to their offices except those who works on restaurants and malls perhaps.
We also have a place here where they celebrate their fiesta by throwing water to passersby. That's why if you don't want to be drenched on that particular day, if you are from there, then better not report to the office anymore and just join the celebrations. ha ha ha
Thanks Dina, sorry for the belated response. Actually, I am new to this site and still not conversant with the notifications and the blogs vanish in a few hours from the radar. Nevertheless, yes the question of going to workplace on Holi does not arise to most as it is a big holiday. Even the local public transport almost comes to standstill during a few hours in the morning. I wish you could join the festival sometime.......haha
