GOSSIPING: WORDS THAT POLLUTE THE WORLD OF PEACE

I understand we are all aware of the pollution seeding from overpopulated places. It seems impossible to clear the sky, to dispose the unending piles of garbage, and to shut off the deafening excitement-all treads of human health. Lucky are those who dwell in the quite places. How healthy is life as one experiences the fresh breath of air, the sweet smell of nature, and the cool refreshing waters- all gifts for a better health.

Wherever you are, though, there is a different kind of pollution, widespread that even the peaceful places are not exempted nowadays. In fact, they are the most prone areas of assault. We call it gossip or in our Filipino term “tsismis”-a human tendency to talk maliciously about others without any proof of truth behind the talk.

It is true that criticism is inevitable, it is part of human nature and one has the right to express his feelings, opinions, or judgment; but making it a habit of talking about others life is different from a healthy criticism, whereas one criticizes for the betterment of another. Most of the time though, we do gossiping and gossip always connotes “ill-willed talks” about others.

Gossip then comes in a different form:

  • People do gossip when they perhaps are unaware of the tinge of envy inside themselves.
  • People do gossip when the feeling of “crab mentality” envelops them.
  • People gossip because they have a narrow understanding of what we call “individual differences.”
  • People gossip because one doesn’t consider that others cannot just live the way he does.
  • People gossip they do not know how to put their feet on others’ shoe.

People do gossiping and exaggerate every story they do. People are too meddlesome we love borrowing problems of others. They judge and tell tales not knowing the real story behind it. They tend not to realize that they are seizing the “right of privacy” of an individual. They are too outward looking. They do not recognize that they and their big mouths are ruining others and making the situation worse.

It’s high time we deal with this sickness. There is much beauty in the world that we hardly notice because of the absorption in “seeing” others. A person with a good disposition will think beautiful. One who knows this has a sense of beauty in his heart even amidst crying and this will be his inspiration to do right things. The world is suffering from different physical illness; let’s not worsen it with our hostile talks.

Clean your mouths with the right words to avoid the pollution of bad stories that are ruining the world of peace.
